I live in Westchester, which is an affluent suburb (right next to Inglewood) where the space shuttle spent most of Thursday night/Friday. As a result I was awakened promptly Friday morning about 4 am by all the helicopters flying over (They were still flying overhead when I got home from work at 9pm). It took my 1 hour to drive to work in the morning (normal drive time 30 minutes) due to the shuttle traffic and over 2 hours to drive home, mainly cause I timed my drive home perfectly with a short 405 freeway closure.
Needless to say, the spaceshuttle visit was a nightmare, and I never saw a peep of it to top it all off.
