If you define broke by having nearly $3.5M in cash, stocks and assets, ok then. I am certainly not wealthy, in fact I consider myself somewhat of a failure to only have $3.5M at the age of 50. It should be a lot more, but I made some poker and investment mistakes a few years ago which set me back. As a side note, I have stayed at that very Hilton probably 10 times over the years, its a 15 minute walk to Smith and Wollensky, my favorite restaurant of all time. It's right down the street from Rockefeller Center. Also on the route is S&W is a landmark Brooks Brothers. I picked up a $400 coat there back right before the pandemic. Two years later I left it at a bar in Chicago and went back in 5 minutes later to get it and it was swiped.
If this was a tv crime drama show the likely candidates would be:
1-some kid who lost his mother after United denied her coverage for some surgery she needed.
2-his wife’s boyfriend
3-next in line CEO took out a hit
4-his mistress convinced some other chump to kill him after he refused to get a divorce
But the most likely shooter is probably some disgruntled former employee of United who felt slighted by something and spiraled into addiction and bankruptcy.
I also notice the CEO getting shot down like a dog has had zero impact on stock price. Very slightly up.
1 or something similar has to be the runaway favorite. They lead the industry by far in turning down claims.

Well, its definitely someone that knew about the conference he was attending. They say the killer based on witness reports was loitering back and forth, so he was obviously waiting for him. I am leaning towards an ex-employee, or the wife set up a hit. The wife did speak to NBC News this morning, which is odd when your husband was just murdered. Usually, I would think you are inconsolable. She mentioned to NBC maybe someone was angry about lack of coverage, which here again is odd. Either way someone knew he was going to be there, so it should be quick to solve, it obviously was not random. It could also be a gay lover scorned.

if you look at the video really close, he looks like he tries to fire at the bystander too after he shot the CEO, looks like the gun jammed or failed to chamber and then fires into the window where the bystander was just standing and again it looks like a bullet failed to chamber again... looks like 2 dry fires after he shot the CEO and them were more to the right of the CEO....
edit: watched it again, looks like probably only one miss fire, the 2nd attempted shot, looks like the 3rd attempt did fire, but still looks to me that it is more to the right towards that window?

Before seeing this I was just thinking an interesting plot for a movie is the wife, wanting to inherit all of his wealth, reaching out to someone who had made threats in the past and helping him plan and execute the hit etc.
