Well, that PI was wrong about one thing.
She was indeed listed as a missing person by the LAPD on 11/15.
But that doesn't mean much. Anyone is "missing" if they abruptly vanish without explanation, and their family can't find them. But there's various grades of missing. There's "missing and zero chance they would have made no contact unless they're dead or forcibly held". There's "missing but kind of flaky, and it's unclear where they are and what they're doing". And there's "missing, but likely just intentionally out of contact." I think this one is the latter.
Given the high public interest in this, you'd think the LAPD would release the photo of the guy last seen with her, unless they know who he is and have cleared him of wrongdoing, or because they think there's a high likelihood that she is with him voluntarily.
Most of the time someone exhibits bizarre behavior prior to vanishing, they are not a victim of anyone else. Sometimes they vanish on their own, and sometimes their own mental instability leads to their death, and they just aren't found for awhile.
Remember Matt Marafioti? You probably remember that he jumped to his death in New Jersey -- something first reported by PFA. However, you may not remember that he vanished for 5 months, about 2 years prior to his death. Most assumed he was dead then, but then he popped up again, and while not mentally healthy, he was physically fine. He just chose to vanish, likely due to paranoia.
I still think this will end with Hannah being found, in bad psychological (but decent physical) shape, and then will be shipped off to a looney bin somewhere to recover.
This story is interesting to the public because she's an attractive young female. If she were a dude of any age, nobody would care about this, and it would be chalked up to a mentally ill guy going missing in LA, and nobody would care aside from his famliy.
That same PI, irritated that he was lied to be her family, decided to keep investigating to prove that she's okay.

San Ysidro is right on the Mexican border, and is not a common destination for someone, unless they are headed to Mexico.
Someone else posted a text exchange between Hannah and her sister, where Hannah said she was refusing to come home to Maui, and was planning to go to northern CA and get a job.
It looks like the trip to New York was bullshit. Hannah was never planning upon making it there, but rather just used the opportunity to get away from what she considered a controlling or difficult family in Maui.
The same PI posted a conclusion about 30 minutes ago.
He said that he's 100% certain she wasn't abducted, and that her family was aware of the "marriage situation", but he didn't elaborate on the latter. Maybe she married some guy in LA whom her family otherwise wouldn't have wanted her to marry?
In any case, yeah, this looks like a mixture of Gofundme fraud and a family trying to control an adult child.

I don’t know the exact reason Hannah Kobayashi is intentionally missing. However, I was able to confirm two things: she purchased a ticket using her ID and was traveling alone, and her family is aware of the marriage situation. I am now 100% confident that she has not been abducted, trafficked, or manipulated, contrary to what we were told.
She is an adult and has the right to make her own decisions. Whether her actions are influenced by mental health or legal factors is for mental health professionals and law enforcement to address. My volunteer involvement in this case is now done.
I am also highly certain that certain individuals have been aware of this information for well more than a week. The GoFundMe campaign should be shut down, and donations made after this information was known should, in my opinion, be reimbursed.
Once again, the missing persons community is left with a black eye due to controlled narratives and a disregard for the truth. And that sucks.
This girl isn't hot enough to warrant this type of attention. Just like the missing persons community was duped into searching for her, the general public was duped by a few old decent pictures into caring. We don't care about average missing girls. I don't make the rules.
I wonder what the end game was for the family.
To grift Gofundme? Wasn't very lucrative, if so. They "only" raised $46k, which while not chump change, probably wasn't worth all the scrutiny. Jami Lafay got to more than 1/3 of that in just a few days!
Was this some way to force the public's cooperation in locating her and somehow pressuring her to go home? That's actually what I believe it is.
The dad helsing himself is the biggest mystery here. Recall that he was barely in her life, and also it appeared she was likely alive, so why would he have done that? I'm guessing the guy was already a hair away from doing it anyway, and then this occurred, and he thought maybe he had a purpose to be here -- to find and save his daughter whom he had previously failed. Then, when he learned she was likely just running away from everyone, he probably lost this sense of purpose, and did the deed. That's my guess.
The family lying to the public for all this time, so they could locate a relative who wanted nothing to do with them anymore, is really shitty. No wonder she ran away from them.
LAPD is satisfied that she went into Mexico legally and voluntarily. LAPD will be notified if she crosses back into US. They will keep file open but are not too interested in pursuing the case.

There are rumors of an Argentinian marriage scam being involved here.
The PI has confirmed that he has also seen evidence of such a thing, but is choosing not to say anything further because it's not relevant.
The rumor is that she and her ex were on that plane to NYC to each engage in a fake marriage to an Argentinian (one male, one female), in exchange for money. The Argentinians would get green cards out of it.
Supposedly Hannah got cold feet and ran off from the whole thing.
Oh, and yes, apparently she was part of some green card marriage scam, along with her ex.
They were going to each marry one half of an Argentinian couple (or maybe already did marry them?), and supposedly the new "husband" stole her money somehow. They were all on the same flight from Maui to LA.
I am wondering if her realization that she got scammed was what sent her into this soul searching quest, and then the family exploited it as her being "missing" so they could both use the public to find her, as well as profit via Gofuckme.
