Davey Johnson was at the helm of the 86 Mets. I don't mind watching him lose in heartbreaking fashion.

I'm from Boston. I don't have to wish any more.

I wished in 1967, 1975 and 1986. My Father wished in in 1946, 1948 and several other seasons.

IMO no MLB team had more heart than the 2004 Boston Red Sox.

certainly one of the best comebacks in baseball history, but the Cardinals have been down to their last strike 4? times in the last 12 months, won 6 straight elimination games, and tonight have overcome the largest deficit (6 runs) EVER in an elimination game.

every team has heart, playing for millions in contracts in front of 1/4th the country any given game will do that to anyone, but not every team gets lucky and plays great while avoiding injuries in a given season, those that do go far.

Let's not debate greatest comebacks ever. All it would do is diminish what the Cards did last night.

Great job winning 6 elimination games in a row in a years time. The Sox ran off 4 in less than a week in 04, starting with one against the consensus greatest baseball closer of all time playing on the team with by far the most playoff success of all time, the game after being crushed by just under a dozen runs, against the rival that had crushed them continually for longer than most American lifespans.

Across the room, standing alone by his locker, Mark DeRosa, now a National and once a Cardinal, nodded slowly.
"The Cardinals, they find a way, man," he said. "It's like they go over there and put on that Cardinal uniform and something just happens. They chip away and chip away and they just find a way to beat you."
