I have to imagine these pagers were rigged awhile ago to blow up when given a certain code. I doubt factory standard Motorola pagers can be forced to self-destruct like this, no matter how they're hacked. Someone in Israel must have found this order for pagers by Hezbollah, and paid someone off to rig them with some kind of explosives to be triggered by a signal.
