Trump is following a very similar path, sure it’s different but the fact is he is making a startling comeback. It's very Nixon like. Make no mistake, Nixon praised Trump in the early 80s. I am quite certain Trump remembers that.
We are all on a Nixon kick.
I’m fixated on Nixon at the moment too. He sounds intelligent, sane and dare I say honorable compared to today. Serves as a benchmark for the decline of the empire when Nixon is now capturing my interest as a model statesman.
Consider Nixon’s reasons for resigning. Neither Biden nor Trump would ever make that move for country
Middle East, the dollar etc. really interesting.
In many regards the Democratic and Republican parties have flipped since the 70’s and that’s interesting to look at too.
Completely fixated on how the CIA and liberal jews fucked up the Shah and Iran. Chickens came home to roost. Nixon had much to say on the subject that was quite brave at the time.
I’m also hooked on the 1920’s. The period between WWI & WWII. Any period piece has been a home run for me.
Just finished the “Durrells of Corfu” on PBS stream. 4 seasons complete 2018? True story as written by one of the children in what turned out to be a best seller at one time. Widow loses her husband and moves her family from England to the Greek island of Corfu to live more cheaply. She homeschools her kids - well pretty much lets them run wild and explore life.
The woman was eccentric as were the children in turn. They all thrived as adults. One a Nobel prize candidate in literature. One a famous zookeeper, conservationist, television personality and writer.
Fantastic. You really gotta have had kids to appreciate the story fully.
