Walz's lies are different than the usual political lies. The guy ernestly tells major stories about himself which are simply not true. He claimed that if IVF were illegal, he wouldn't have had his kids. Instead, his wife never had IVF, but instead did IUI, which is uncontroversial even among the most religious of Christians. (IUI involves inserting the sperm directly into the uterus, and does not involve creating embroys outside the body which might be destroyed later, as IVF does.) He claimed his 1995 DUI was due to a "misunderstanding due to hearing loss" from his time in the National Guard, and that's the only reason he failed the sobriety test. Turned out he had a BAC of almost .13, which was way over the limit, and he was caught driving 96 mph in a 55 zone. He lied about his military rank, and also was holding up signs in 2004 (during a protest) identifying himself as a combat veteran, which he never was. By the way, he wasn't a politician in 2004, so this wasn't for political purposes. He just enjoyed posturing as a combat veteran, despite knowing he had never seen combat, nor deployed to any foreign country.

But given Walz's mannerisms it would not surprise me if he leads a double life and his wife knows about it and let's him just do his thing time to time with other grown men. There are plenty of grown married men that "take the day off" and just meet up with a dude or two at the Days Inn and party all afternoon and go home like nothing happened. Teaching a class or leading a club for teens is fine, provided you don't take a personal interest in them and their lives.
If you have a pattern of a teacher going out of his way to spend personal time over and over with teens, there's likely a problem. And when it's a supposedly straight man taking an unnatural interest in 'helping" gay teens, that's especially weird.
For example, let's say I was a math teacher and a gay kid came to me and said he was being bullied for his sexuality, and wanted my help because he trusted me. I would help him and bring the matter to the attention of the principal, and urge them to investigate what is going on. But would I form a personal relationship with that kid? No. Would I go out of my way to start clubs involving gay kids? No. That would be weird, especially being straight myself.
The problem is that the "really nice guys" who take an intense interest in helping kids are often doing it for pedo reasons. Usually the rule of thumb is that the ones who take a personal interest in the kids are the pedos, and the ones who just generally help (as you did) are not.
