Records show Daniel Stephen Rodimer has a warrant issued for an open murder charge in Las Vegas Justice Court. A request for the warrant was issued March 5, records show. Jail records do not show Rodimer in custody as of Wednesday afternoon.

Police said he’s the suspect for a homicide that occurred on Oct. 29 of last year. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said they became aware of the “suspicious death” at the 3000 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard on Nov. 22.”

I was in Vegas that night (October 29, 2023), and remember hearing that there was a death at Resorts World.

I also remember the Susan Lee/Daniel Rodimer election in 2020 for the 3rd district Congressional seat of Nevada. That weirdly gerrymandered district cuts through the greater Las Vegas area, covering the western and southwestern portion, including Henderson. It also encompasses most of the small towns in southern Clark County, such as Laughlin, Searchlight, Jean, Primm, and Boulder City. It does not include Pahrump.

Trump probably dragged down Rodimer,. People were motivated in 2020 to go out and vote against Trump, who was unpopular in Nevada in both 2016 and 2020. (Trump has had a huge comeback, and is seeming likely to win there in 2024!)

Rodimer lost by 3 points, 48.8 to 45.8. So he wasn't far, but he wasn't all that close. The district is rated D+1, meaning Democrats are projected to have a 1-point edge if both candidates are otherwise equal strength. So it's definitely a purple district. Lee is running again in 2024, and is listed as "likely winning" in early projections.

It looks like the victim of this murder, Christopher Tapp, had a physical fight with Rodimer on Ooctober 29 in a Resorts World room, and probably hit his head on something when he fell during the fight.

It is not clear who reported the "unwitnessed fall" of Tapp, the night paramedics showed up to his room. He was not dead yet, but had multiple brain injuries and died at the hospital. Did Rodimer anonymously call it in? Or did security find it, after receiving reports of an altercation? A witness was interviewed on December 11 who told police that Tapp had been "in an altercation with another individual" in the room that night. It is not clear if that witness was in the room, as well, or just someone in a neighboring room.

This murder was unusual in that most Vegas hotel room murders involve opposite sex victims. Some are domestic violence, while others are robberies-turned-murder where girls set up dudes in the casino. It is not common for a man to be murdered in a Vegas hotel room by another man, with no presumably no sexual or romantic connection involved.

Rodimer would probably be a tough opponent in a fight, as he's 6'7" and 300 pounds, with a wrestling background. He was briefly in the WWE in the mid-2000s. I doubt he has much of a career anymore, being a relative unknown in the wrestling world, and being nearly 46 years old.

Aside from his attempt to run in the Nevada Congressional race, Rodimer had two other recent electoral fails. In 2018, he ran for Nevada State Senate, losing by just 142 votes after outspending his opponent 2-to-1. In 2021, CNN accused him of putting on a fake Texas accent to replace Texas Congressman Ron Wright, who died of COVID in May 2021. Wright already had cancer and was 67 years old, so he was particularly vulnerable to the virus. Rodimer finished 11th in that crowded field. He didn't have much of a chance, as he wasn't known in the area, and Wright's widow had already been endorsed by Trump. The seat ultimately went to Jake Elzey, who lost to Ron Wright in the Republican primary in 2018.

I had to research who this guy was. He was never in WWE. He was on dev contract in Florida with a low end promotion known as Deep South Wrestling and was cut after a year back in 2007.

Some places say she was a Florida stripper, but others say she was just his girlfriend for over a decade. Obviously she already had kids if the step daughter part of this story is correct. A former Nevada and Texas congressional candidate Daniel "Big Dan" Rodimer is wanted for an open murder charge, as previously reported.

Daniel "Big Dan" Rodimer is wanted for the charge of open murder in connection with a homicide that took place in Las Vegas in 2023, according to court records. A warrant request was issued on Tuesday. As of Wednesday afternoon, jail records did not indicate that Rodimer is in custody.

Rodimer is a former professional wrestler who unsuccessfully ran as a Republican for Congress, both in Nevada in 2020, and in Texas in 2021. Rodimer lost Nevada Congressional District 3, to Democrat incumbent Susie Lee by 13,000 votes, and then ran in the Texas' District 6 special election.

The homicide took place at Resorts World on October 29, 2023, where 47-year-old Christoper Tapp was found suffering from injuries that were initially purported to be caused by an accident. Tapp was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Tapp's cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, and the Coroner ruled the death a homicide.

New details have emerged regarding the suspected motive and other damning details of that fatal night. The criminal complaint alleges that Rodimer and his stepdaughter were guests at the hotel suite which was hosted by an F1 driver and attended by multiple “Instagram influencers.”

It is alleged that Rodimer became upset with Christopher Tapp after he offered cocaine to Rodimer's stepdaughter. Witnesses report several individuals using cocaine during the Halloween party.

According to court documents, there was a designated "fun room" at the suite party, where lines of cocaine were arranged alongside a hundred-dollar bill. A witness stated that specific "rules" were enforced, including a prohibition on Rodimer's stepdaughter from consuming cocaine. Later that evening, a witness informed the police that the suspect entered the "fun room," located within a suite bathroom, shortly after Tapp had entered to snort cocaine.

Reportedly, Rodimer confronted him, stating, "If you give my daughter any of that (expletive), I will (expletive) kill you." Another woman at the party intervened, attempting to de-escalate the situation by escorting Rodimer out of the room, leaving Tapp alone inside.

Rodimer was described as wearing a large fur jacket without a shirt, portraying a "Ken" costume. One witness reported observing an "angry Ken" tear off his jacket and dash into the "fun room" containing the cocaine.


Another witness purportedly alerted the party's host, an unnamed F1 driver, about the brewing conflict, advising him to intervene, saying "he better go stop Dan because he was going to fight Christopher.”

The witness who initially witnessed Rodimer's rush into the bathroom stated she observed Rodimer knock down Tapp, causing him to hit his head against a table. She informed the authorities that Rodimer proceeded to strike Tapp "repeatedly on his head and body."

She mentioned that the Tapp did not fight back, prompting her to leave due to the distressing nature of the altercation she described as "disgusting." While departing through the lobby of the resort, she claimed to have seen Tapp being transported by paramedics. He was admitted to Sunrise Hospital, where he remained until his passing a week later.

Another witness recounted hearing "two loud banging noises" emanating from the bathroom during the altercation.

Initially, Tapp's demise was believed to be accidental in nature and related to an "overdose" or "fall." Although the incident occurred on October 29, medical professionals pronounced Tapp dead at Sunrise Hospital on November 5. His autopsy revealed evidence of blunt head trauma, resulting in multiple brain bleeds. and recent cocaine use. The Clark County Coroner's office ruled the manner of death as a homicide.


Investigators additionally acquired text exchanges between Rodimer and his wife, Sarah Rodimer. In one message, Sarah wrote:

I watched you nearly murder somebody and I had to take your [expletive] hands off from his neck as he laid there and you ran away and I spent the next two hours trying to take care of him. Nobody should have to watch their husband murder somebody.
Police allege that Sarah later messaged:

I saw you commit murder. Let that sink in, your psychopath.
Another message addressing divorce and child support read:

“I guess you can’t pay anything if you’re in prison. I’m doing zero visitation. You are a monster.”
Tapp and Rodimer are reported to have known each other through a shared interest in classic cars and racing.

I mentioned the Texas thing in my writeup about him.

I felt that CNN was being overly dramatic there. I tried very hard to hear the fake accent, and it just didn't exist. They were right that he took on a lol cowboy persona in his Texas ads, whereas he portrayed himself as a normal family man in Nevada. However, his vocal difference seemed to be related to some issue with his voice that made it more gravelly-sounding, maybe from a cold or whatever, but I didn't hear any southern twang. He even tried to clarify this in the interview but they just skipped right past it.

Would've been hilarious if he really did fake a Texas accent, and it would have been great to play on PFA Radio (as this will definitely be a discussion topic), but no, he didn't fake an accent.

Yeah, it’s probably the bare bones of the story. It’s a little weird though. His wife was clearly there though from the texts, and the guy he killed is his age. Really brazen to give cocaine to a presumably fairly young stepdaughter with a 6’7 300lb dad who warned you not to.

If it was some young partygoer, would make more sense.

His wife just had their sixth kid in like 2019, so says she’s 40ish, stepdaughter would have to be early 20s at most.

Almost made me wonder if that was his excuse to others for attacking the guy, but it was really a dude hitting on his wife of something. Article made it out like it was a party attended by him and stepdaughter, but then you have the texts from wife. His marriage seems to be cause of his previous arrests. Saying someone gave your kid drugs and that’s why you beat him might be accurate, but also might be an excuse for why you beat some guy who got involved in a drug fueled domestic dispute.
