Being in a suite by yourself in Vegas does bring on destructive thoughts.
20 years ago, famous uberdegen and poker fish "thyprez" somehow hit miracles to win a WSOP Main seat from Pokerstars. It came with a free hotel room at the lol Four Queens, plus some spending money.
I was in Vegas at the same time, though not playing the Main (I had no interest in touranments then), and I also did not have my Vegas apartment yet. I was still an LA resident, a few months away from moving.
I said to thyprez, "I'd like to stay and watch how the Main turns out for you, but I've run out of comp nights and I'm driving back to LA tongiht."
He said, "Oh, take my room at the Four Queens!"
I wasn't sure I wanted it because... well, it's the Four Queens. But being a Jew who loves free stuff, especially in Vegas, I considered it. I asked him, "But where will you sleep? Is this a 2-queen room or something?"
"I'm getting a huge suite at Harrah's. It's $1200/night," he replied.
This made no sense to me. He had a room at the Four Queens, which while admittedly a shithole, was close to the WSOP Main (which took place at Binion's). Why was he going all the way to Harrah's and spending $1200 for a suite?
"I'm getting an expensive hooker there tonight," he told me. "I don't want to bring her to the Four Queens."
"Oh, you don't have to impress a hooker," I told him. "She doesn't give a shit where you're staying, as long as you pay her and you aren't too much trouble. You shouldn't waste $1200 on a suite to impress a hooker."
He then explained to me that I didn't understand.
He said he needed the suite to get the full feeling of Vegas degeneracy. He said that being in a suite alone in Vegas tempts him to do bad and irresponsible things, and he wanted that feeling on this particular night.
He wasn't the type of guy you could talk out of something like this. Even if I did talk him out of it, he'd just have lied to me and done it anyway.
"You sure you're not gonna need this Four Queens room?", I asked him.
"I'm sure," he replied. "I already have the Harrah's suite booked."
And so it went. thyprez fucked a high-end hooker in a high-end Harrah's suite the night before the 2004 WSOP Main, and I slept at the Four Queens and cursed myself for being so niggardly.
Yes, I said niggardly.

That's the time I'm most predictably there if you want to meet me. Otherwise I'm kinda sporadically in Vegas, without much notice. I was actually there a ton this fall, but now I'm dialing it back again.

If somebody offers me that opportunity during WSOP time I will do it and most likely feel the same way I always do here but IÂ’ll be richer which is important
