I’m guessing the reasons are $.
Some type of advantage. I believe Druff was technically a Nevada resident for many years for the obvious tax advantages. Yet he has maintained a home in California and his son goes to school in CA. Maybe there is some complication there.
I know there are certain tax advantages to being unmarried with children in certain scenarios. I doubt this is the case, because I believe it’s when the woman earns more. I doubt that’s the case here.
Whatever it is, I’m guessing it’s some financial edge to remaining unmarried. We are talking Druff here and he’s the king of exploiting small edges. He was born to be a limit poker pro.

This is not the first time I have seen Druff accused of a Derek Moneyburg esque tax avoidance scheme
She won’t marry Druff til he’s Catholic and he has to wait for his Grandma to die because marrying a shiksa would kill her?
You are focusing upon the wrong age group here.
For older people, marriage becomes more of a formality, especially when the relationship has already progressed to living together and having a child together.
If you think about it, marriage ceremonies date back to the days when very young people were getting married and just starting out in adult life. Even my parents, married in their early 20s, fit that description. It's just not the same when you're both 50+ and already have a teenager together.
The main pain in the ass about not being married is not having automatic rights to certain things regarding each other. For example, I cannot speak to businesses on her behalf, unless she formally gives permission. And I can't get on her workplace insurance policy, so I'm forced to fork over almost $1000/month for an individual policy.
I wish I had a grandparent still alive. Unfortunately 3 of them were gone by the time I was 9, and the final grandparent lived until 1999.
At this point of my life, I'm just happy to be almost 52 and have both parents alive. My dad lost both of his parents by age 38. My mom lost her dad when she was 31.
The thing is Druff you tell yourself you have a girlfriend
Brother I can tell you one thing for sure
You have a wife
Question that is none of my business.
How is your will setup and who is the beneficiary of your life insurance. Not sure how CA works but can you set everything up in a trust for Ben until a certain age, or is she entitled to a share (or everything) based on your time together?
Important questions for everyone, but especially someone in your situation with substantial assets.
