That's odd. I wonder how much variance there is from one Sonic to another? I probably haven't been since the lockdowns, but the tater tots are great and I recall the burgers being acceptable for the price.

In Texas and Oklahoma, Sonic has always been first and foremost a place to get drinks, slushes, and shakes. Food is pretty meh outside of their tater tots. Their ice is also popular enough that people regularly buy just bags of that.

Tried another chain food type restaurant not near me. It was Raising Kane give it a 4 of 5. The chicken was delightfull ,cole slaw and toasted bread. French fries were the frozen kind only reason didn't give it a 5. Going to try the cheese stake at arbys next. Driving back on Monday took us 24 hours no stay over one shot grueling

Raising Canes just started to pop up here (South Florida) so apparently they're moving into the Southeast only ever seen in Las Vegas

Love Raising Canes- Chicken is good, fries are good, sauce is good and that toast is awesome. I first tried them in Las Vegas and have since gone to the Nor Cal locations. The new Barstow location on Lenwood Road is my new go to while enroute to Vegas. Druff should be going there soon too.

This. The owners worked there and ripped off the entire thing. It's not even a secret.

Raising Cane's is in the running for most overrated chain in the country. (The only real competition in that category is Five Guys.) All they've done is found a way to market glorified gas station food to middle class and upper middle class white people at a mark up. These places have extreme, routine variance in quality as well - there's probably a 60-70% chance one will get soggy, oily food. The sad thing is, is that this trash, much like Sonic, gained prominence by invading Texas. Up until five or six years ago, half of their locations were in North Texas or the Houston area.
