one report I saw indicated that on average 500 new migrants are now coming to NYC every day

many are from Venezuela which is racked by poverty, crime and political corruption - I saw a report stating that 90% of Venezuelans are living in poverty and 60% are living in extreme poverty

another report I saw quoted Mayor Adams as saying the crisis could destroy the city

I remember the days when employers didn’t need to perform a citizen check to hire. Now these grown men can’t work.

I recently heard Massachusetts spent one billion dollars in 2023 for “emergency shelter” costs. Great for the local Marriott Courtyard franchisees but taxpayers never paid those kinds of sums back in the day.

Biden open to policy changes on the border as his push for Ukraine funding stalls




President Joe Biden is sending a clear message to Democratic negotiators on Capitol Hill that he is open to striking a compromise with Republicans on border security in order to get talks on funding for Ukraine back on track.

During his impassioned speech in the White House’s Roosevelt Room on Wednesday, Biden said he felt Republicans haven’t been willing to make a deal, though some have since expressed optimism about the direction of negotiations.

“I am willing to make significant compromises on the border. We need to fix the broken border system, it is broken. And thus far, I’ve gotten no response,” he said as he made a fresh appeal to lawmakers, adding that failure to reach a compromise would serve as a “gift” for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

I remember Trump cancelling DACA. We had employees who spent every day sweating out whether they were getting deported or not. Some employees or their spouses did get shipped out.

It is massively crazy to me how far the pendulum has swung the other way. Now you have millions on the dole who are simultaneously prohibited from working. Simply stupid.

I was once in North Africa in a village by the sea where the guys would go across to Spain on rafts

would launch from the beaches

I heard a lot of varied opinions from locals about how they perceived the situation and wanted it handled
