I believe the problem comes down to percieved hypocrisy on both sides of the political spectrum. The left screams my body my choice regarding abortions and then demands everybody get a shot thats now been proven to be ineffective and in fact detrimental to some who got it. While the GOP goes all life is precious and then pulls the my body my choice out its ass on the flipside regarding Covid.. Both political sides are hypocrites medically speaking.
As public sentiment is no longer behind mandatory masking, the forever maskers don't hassle people anymore. But they're definitely thinking it very loudly.
Why do I care what they think? I don't. However, I can guarantee these same people will be demanding mandatory masking again if a problematic COVID variant springs up again. I know this because I've seen it all over social media (and even some discussion in Los Angeles city government) when fast-spreading but otherwise typical Omicron variants appear, such as the one we have right now.
Take Ike, for example. If he simply said, "I wear an N95 because I play very high buyin tournaments and don't want to get sick in the middle, whether COVID or something else", and then took off the ugly mask for the winners photos, he wouldn't get many detractors. But for him it's at least 50% a social statement. Ike would definitely force you to wear a mask in public if it were up to him.
I believe Joe Rogan has had one big name poker pro on his podcast for the entire run. JRE #526 July 23, 2014….Isaac Haxton. Think they would probably go in a different direction nowadays.
