His website lists George Soros as one of the "Great Minds of the Twentieth Century", and he linked an Economist article from 2015 called "Excellence v Equity in Higher Education", which makes the case that people at lower income levels don't have enough access to higher education.
He also was apparently obsessed with Las Vegas, and students reported that his classes were "easy", mostly just him talking about Vegas and otherwise giving easy tests on the subject matter he was supposed to be teaching.
Strangely, he also engaged in some kind of computer hacking in 1992, at the age of 36. It's not clear what he hacked, but that's his only arrest.
Here was the "CONTENT OF ENVELOPES" PDF, which contained his rants that he wrote days before the shooting, but removed prior to committing it:

Reading this guy's rants a few days before the shooting, it seems like these people named are damn lucky he had moved to Vegas.
It seems he blames a bunch of faculty at his previous jobs for his career problems, and in fact in one case wrote that one guy is lucky he left town instead of coming over to the guy's house to settle things. And he's probably right.. that guy is lucky he left town.
So it looks like his failure to get hired at UNLV was one of those final straw things, and he took it out on UNLV faculty, basically seeing all faculty at all colleges to be corrupt and evil. It doesn't seem to be anger specifically at UNLV for not hiring him, but simply the city he happened to be when he decided to kill university faculty.
Perhaps he removed the PDF because he was worried authorities might be contacted, and his plan to shoot up UNLV would be ruined.
It is notable that he did not go after any students, so this wasn't just a random spree killing by an angry man. He specifically wanted to harm the type of person he felt had ruined his career -- other college faculty members.
You can see when he was shot. He actually chased down the cop he ran into, and fired at him, so clearly the dude was looking to die by police fire.
I don't get why this man at 67 ,with probably a pension and eligible for social security im assuming gets upset he get rejected for a job , why just not retire ?

I don't know how accurate his shot at the cop was intended to be. That video was really weird. Seemed like he just kinda fired his gun off, the cop took cover, and he calmly walked to where the cop had moved. Very much looked like suicide by cop to me, perhaps without the intention to actually hurt any police.
