Need suggestion for good bulk mailing service (regular mail, not email)

I know that the PFA userbase encompasses a wide variety of people and careers, so I figured I'd ask here.

I have recently designed a website that I want a certain group of people to see. It is not a website for commercial purposes, but is instead targeted to about 10,000 people that I want to become informed about a certain matter.

I am looking to send out bulk letters (all the same letter) to about 10,000 homes -- most of which are in the same area, but a few outside that area -- with information about that website.

Please direct me to the cheapest way to do this. Speed of the mail doesn't really matter.

I haven't said what this website is about.

It will contain nothing but verifiable facts, and its visitors will be given easy guidance how to verify my claims for themselves.

It is true that some people will probably leave the website very angry, but not at me.

The website is already completed. I have also completed research on the targeted marketing. I just need a good way to get the word out cheaply and effectively.

I would do that, and would hire 408Mike to team up with him, but these letters need to go somewhere else that's not close to San Jose.

Yes, I definitely see how it can appear that way.

And on the surface, this doesn't sound like a bad idea, but let's be realistic here.

If I bulk-snail-mailed 10,000 people about Scotty Clark's little obsession with me, nobody would give a shit. Nobody is going to go to the trouble to type in a website URL about some feud between two third parties. Even if a few did out of curiosity, almost none of them would care.

No, that would be a complete waste of time and money.

The only way people are going to manually type in a URL from a piece of direct mail is if it's something of interest to the community at large.

Sorry for the crypticness in this thread. I didn't mean to do that. I really just wanted some advice about direct mailing, and it seemed like this would be a good resource.
