HP Envy laptop keyboard failing, is the computer fucked?

Here's the situation:

I have an HP Envy laptop. I like this line of laptops, and have had a few in a row. Unfortunately, they seem to have keyboard issues. Every one of them I've owned has eventually had multiple keys on the keyboard start failing (usually within days of each other, and usually close together).

In the past, I was fortunate enough to be under warranty when this happened -- sometimes an extended warranty which I got from some previous fail on their part. An older laptop actually had an easily replaceable keyboard, but those days are long gone.

Now I'm not under any kind of warranty. This laptop was bought 3 years ago. I had it completely replaced in April 2022, when it was having keyboard issues plus some other problems. It was under warranty then, but not now.

Other than the keyboard, it works perfectly. Still fast, screen looks great, basically no other problems except the fan coming on every so often when the CPU is working hard.

To me this looks like a keyboard failure at the motherboard level, and I'm probably fucked... but at the same time, it feels weird to dump a completely good laptop just because of a fucking keyboard. I can use an external one in the meantime, but that's not a solution I want anything beyond short term.

If I do buy a new one, I suppose this laptop can serve as a backup, but I'd really prefer to get some more life out of this one.

Brother I had one of these laptops in college and experienced a similar keyboard related issue

I used this laptop to win my biggest online poker tournaments, so though it was a flawed piece of equipment I have positive memories towards it

The one I had was old and a hand me down by an extended family member who knew I needed a computer for school

The hinge thing broke. It forces the screen to split open.

Wife had the same thing happen to her work laptop and now it stays there.

Her boss didn't have any luck getting results with the warranty. Anyone else run into this?

Um actually no he’s not a ‘computer programmer’ unless tinkering around with vbulletin settings qualifies

Druff is hardly writing code, and has only a beginners grasp of basic html

big difference between a ‘computer programmer’ and someone who is proficient at computers

it always cracks me up when he talks about configuring the ‘server’ thats absurd unless being on the phone with tech support at godaddy counts

His knowledge of computers is at best intermediate only because of the mind boggling amount of hours he’s spent hunched over his laptop

Maybe I’m trolling a bit here, but it’s because I’m sick and tired of him neglecting his own website and green lighting limitles to shit all over the pages of the forum with little or no consequence

PFA could easily be a thriving community with even a little bit of effort, but in its current state, it’s little more than his personal platform to grandstand

this place is dark and depressing and usually a fucking ghost town when it really doesn’t have to be

It’s painfully obvious Todd cares very little about the participating members here

I never claimed to be a master of html or coding

but I do have a working knowledge of how to configure and operate vbulletin, and what is involved in terms of customizing it

I’m highly skilled at SEO and can certainly build a functional website on WordPress…it’s not rocket science

I believe the licensing fee for the most updated version of vbulletin is only 199 bucks

I could easily buy a new domain and have vbulletin installed and a brand new community forum up and running ready to roll within a couple of days it’s not that hard trust me

been there done that it’s not worth the bullshit

I know all too well the amount of crap involved when it concerns juggling the fragile egos of unruly forum contributors

Todd does get major props for subjecting himself to the endless drama and e-wars

I just think it’s a pretty simple fix to have this place hoppin’ not stagnating

but little is ever done to penalize shitposting unless it directly affects Druff

there should be a ZERO tolerance policy for retards who don’t bringing something to the table and just troll for the sake of trolling and fucking up threads with useless nonsense and I’m not even talking about limitles specifically

At least impose SOME kind of standard to prevent 90% of the threads from getting AIDS
