Two young men, Jacob Clark-Jendrock and Anthony Acosta, vanished while driving between Palm Springs and Sacramento

When young white women go missing, it makes national news.

When two men disappear, nobody but their family and friends seem to care. But it doesn't make the stories any less interesting or mysterious.

Jacob Clark-Jendrock is in his early 20s, and I assume his friend Anthony Acosta is also around that age.

They left from Palm Springs on Saturday, October 7, to drive to Sacramento for a concert. The drive is 500 miles, and does not go through any difficult terrain, nor was the weather bad.

Their families last heard from them on Saturday night. Now both of their phones are dead, and nobody can find either them or their vehicle, a 2003 Ford F-150. They did not seem to make it to the concert.

This story is strange because there doesn't seem to be a trace of these guys, despite a statewide alert to law enforcement. If they had been in a car accident on the highway, this would be known by now. If they were murdered somewhere along the way, it also would likely be known by now.

There are various possibilities at this point:

1) One of them killed the other, and then took the car and either fled or drove to a remote area to kill himself.

2) They got in a solo accident where the car ran off the road, and over the side somewhere, to where the vehicle hasn't been found yet.

3) They voluntarily decided to leave their families and start a new life elsewhere, and the concert was a cover story.

4) They pulled off to some very remote area to sleep, and were murdered, and this hasn't been discovered yet.

5) Some thing happened to both of their phones (for example, they got stolen), and they haven't thought to call home yet to assure family they're okay.


Note that this is NOT a drive which goes through many cliffs or dangerous terrain. It's all on major highways, and they do not cross any mountains along the way. I'm not even sure if there are any cliffs to where their vehicle could somehow careen off and not be discovered.

I think the most likely scenarios are #1 (one murdered the other) and #3 (they voluntarily decided to leave and start new lives). Given the amount of time that has passed since Saturday, I don't think it's all that likely that they got into an accident or were murdered at a stop, because you'd think their vehicle or their bodies would have been found at this point.

Also, as these guys are both adults, they have every right to disappear and go off the grid, if they so choose.

I am not sure if this is something possible or likely, as I know nothing about their lives.

If you remember, there was fear of a serial killer in Idyllwild, CA in 2020, which is only about 50 miles from Palm Springs. However, it turns out that it was just a series of coincidences which led to a lot of deaths and disappearances within a short time. Two of the six disappearances were young women who simply had run from life and attempted to disappear, and were later found safe. One was a murder, likely by an ex. One was an older woman with dementia who wandered away from her car into the wilderness, and died from the elements. Two appear to be separate solo hiking accidents were the bodies were never found.

It is possible these dudes simply bailed because life sucked at home, and they didn't realize (or didn't care) that their families would believe they were in danger.

I'm guessing we will find out shortly, but maybe not, as this will not get enough mainstream press to where people will recognize them out in public.

They were attending the Aftershock music festival, running from 10/5-10/8. They highly likely made it to Sacramento, as Jacob's wristbanned was scanned into the event on Sunday 10/8. So unless someone killed them and stole his wristband (unlikely), they made it to Sacramento and went to the concert's final day on 10/8.

They did not contact family on Sunday, but it's possible that they were just busy at the concert. There is no record of them anywhere after Sunday 10/8, so now it's been four days. Their phones have been off since Sunday, as well.

So it's possible they ditched their phones and left to go start new lives elsewhere, or something happened to them on the way back.

Another California missing persons case was just resolved, involving one of the writers of a 2013 Katy Perry song.

48-year-old Carmela Leierth-Segura vanished on June 30 in Beverly Hills, and her car was found abandoned.




For over 3 months, nobody heard from her, though her cat was also missing, which indicated it was possible she had simply taken the cat and run off.

Someone called in an anonymous tip that she was seen in Santa Monica, and indeed police located her there. She told police that she voluntarily disappeared and "did not want police services".

Apparently Segura had been struggling financially since COVID hit in 2020. It is not clear if she was homeless in Santa Monica, which does have a huge homeless population.

She was a co-writer of the 2013 Katy Perry song "Walking on Air".

You might not believe this, but I had a kitten stolen once. Weirdest shit ever, my roommate about 15 yrs ago in LV had a cat with kittens, we were giving away a couple on Craigslist & someone came to pick one up, as soon as my roommate (a female) answer's the door holding kitty, man grabs kitten and runs, jumps in car, and vanishes, so odd we were giving the kittens away?

Good resolution. Being young dudes, it felt a tad premature to assume anything once Druff said there wasn’t any cliffs. When I was young, attending some festival, I definitely met people and ended up crashing and drinking and smoking weed for a few extra days. There just wasn’t any cell phones back then, so my parents wouldn’t have thought anything of me not calling for a week unless I missed Christmas or something. A girl borrows a phone and calls mom. Dudes smoke weed and grab burgers and don’t assume anyone is deeply concerned. I’d probably be pissed at my mom for overreacting and putting me on a milk carton.
