Mike Love not war, the biggest fucking asshole in music history, trumped his own fail the other day by firing Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks from The Beach Boys following the conclusion of their wildly successful 50th anniversary tour. Fired them through a press release no less!!

Brian Wilson was the brains, the heart, and the soul of the Beach Boys. Mike Love is a horrible faggot who is basically the "Turtle" or "Drama" of the group. Lucky to be kept around by those who are actually talented. Nobody goes to a Beach Boys show to see Mike Love. Not quite sure why this infuriates me so much. Love will get what he deserves eventually.
They just played the winery in Woodinville this summer and we were out of town.
I've seen Brian Wilson twice recently with the Wondermints and he was outstanding. I was commenting to my brother this weekend that there was no way this reunion would last because Love would fuck it up eventually.

I've never had the pleasure of seeing him in person, but I honestly believe he's a shell of his former self. I'm only 31 but am a HUGE Beach Boys fan. Even watching recent vids of Brian Wilson performing, he looks shaky and even at times confused. I think all the drug use and his mental problems caused irreversible damage, but it isn't something most fans want to acknowledge. It's easier to just keep saying how amazing he is. He is still one of the greatest producers/musicians of the last century. Fuck anyone who thinks otherwise. I think Paul Mccartney is an awful douche, but even he saw Wilson's greatness, and credited him for being an inspiration.

I've seen the Beach Boys live many times. That band was started when I was a boy.
Years later, I had drinks at the Boston Harbor Hotel with Carl Wilson... about a year before his death.
It sort of ended with Carl's death but c'mon..........who cares about Beach Boys' drama in 2012?

I don't remember all the details, but I think in the mid-nineties he won a lawsuit that gave him control of the "Beach Boys" name. It also gave him with more writing credits.
You take the average 18-25 year old and ask him about the beach boys, he'll probably hit you with a few songs but do you really think he's going to know the story about how all this went down? The drugs, laying in bed for like 3 years, the deaths etc?

someone on one of my music forums was pointing out that the way the firing took place, in addition to the statement that was issued basically makes it so that Mike Love can continue the tour of "the beach boys" where if a fan who already bought tickets now wants a refund, they are shit out of luck. They bought a ticket to see "the beach boys" and "the beach boys" will be playing (of course with totally new musicians).
