Les, you are reading too much into the eviction notice. He sublet the apartment from someone else. The eviction threat is not coming from the apartment company, rather an individual. The eviction notice is going to the tenant who signed the lease. Chaps is simply getting threatening phone calls from the sub. My guess is he paid what he could and the tenant covered the rest. The only recourse the tenant has is to call the cops and have him removed, as the squater law does not apply to sublets, generally speaking only to those that signed the lease. I am sure Chaps paid what he could and got an extension from the leasee.
