Last week I went to New York for one day. I flew there are 6AM one morning, back to PBI 9AM the next morning.
I was there for two business meetings. A lunch and a dinner meeting.
I booked the hotel room for the night before so I would have access to the room upon arrival and not need to argue with Customer Service about an early check in like Daniel.
I was there to meet with two different companies but was more interested in doing business with company I was having lunch with.
The lunch meeting went well, kind of as expected but the guy expressed he was limited in some capacity by his payment processor arrangements which annoyed me as he had told me online he could do unlimited volume. Nicky Pipes does not like to get capped out, do you understand?
The dinner meeting went particularly well, it was with three Argentinian guys but when I walked into the meeting I thought it was with 3 guys from Florida. They were a rowdy bunch and drinking Gin & Tonics when I arrived. They seemed drunk already. As you know, Nicky Pipes does not drink, but I ordered a Gin and Tonic as this is what you should do at a business dinner, you don't need to put on a show about how you don't drink. Always order the drink and just relax and sip it, a drink or two will not hurt as long as you stick to your daily sunning and sauna routine.
Anyways, they told me they used to live in Florida and still had condos in Miami and would be there this weekend and invited me down. I said look fellas why did you have me fly up to New York then?
I had lower expectations for the dinner meeting but overall it was an extremely enjoyable time and these Argentinians were not capped in any capacity by anyone.
When I got back home I told my team to focus on developing the relationship with this company.
Quickly things turned to gold. So far in August we have done $301,104.49 with them. The contract we signed had net5 payment terms but we negotiated this morning that they will pay us weekly. They will be sending a $100,000 deposit first thing Monday morning.
An interesting side note is that at the business meeting I told them my business partner who is from the Middle East prefers to exclusively hire young blonde women. They said they only hired men as they are better in IT. When I got home I was discussing business online with the big boss Argentine and he sent me a picture of one of our top associates and said "I see what you mean about your preferences hiring preferences." I said listen pal she is the Mother of two of my children. He said wow I have my foot in my mouth I really hope this won't negatively impact our business relationship ship. I said listen pal it doesn't affect a thing.
