Proof that performance enhancing drugs don't guarantee results?
While Gagne doesn't name any names in the French-language tome, with a number that big, the odds aren't doing any of his former teammates any favors.
"You run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole; you run into assholes all day, you're the asshole."
Book. It means book. Usually a large one.
He claims he only used roids in his "later career", which is bullshit.
He went from a skinny, terrible starting pitcher to a dominant, muscular, unhittable closer.
I actually believe that a high percentage of the 2003 Dodgers were on roids, though I'm not sure about 80%. Paul Lo Duca introduced them to most of the clubhouse.
Seriously, is anybody surprised or even doubt this?
This shit(steroids & HGH etc)works so I guarantee it was/is used in every sporting realm.
I laugh when hockey people(Don Cherry) say it's not in our sport. I guarantee it is/was a big problem.

You have a good handle on how football players do it. They build in the off-season and then slowly lose muscle during the regular season but no matter how much they lose, they had a lot more than natural coming in.
With baseball it's a different story. 80% of steroid usage in baseball is aimed at injury prevention, injury rehabilitation and pain/inflammtion management. After that the other 20% is divided up between better bat speed hand eye coordination masking compounds for drug tests (yes some steroids are used specifically to mask others) and last but not least, increasing speed/strength (can kind of be lumped in with bat speed)
with those specific requirements there isn't really a laundry list of shit to take and unfortunately nothing long acting will work. Well, some compounds, but you'd never pass a drug test.
here is what baseball players, by and large, are using
HGH
Winstrol
Test suspenison
sporadic usage of insulin
tren for the bigger guys
Now, that's presumptive and I say that because when Bond's coach ratted on him it turned out Bonds was taking a couple compounds that either weren't tested for or just plain wouldn't stay viable outside the body long enough to show up in any kind of test.
Which means, it's very very likely players right now are taking shit not showing up on any test and will continue to get away with it until some other coach or player gets busted.
