I can answer this one. This particular hotel has a bar and their guests get a couple of free drinks every night. They used to order pizzas from me during Monday night football. They got behind in paying me and owed me a couple of grand. I put Marty up in that hotel for roughly a week, might have been slightly longer I don’t recall. His stay was being paid for out of what they owed me. At the time, Marty didn’t know they owed me money, he just thought I had some free nights there. I didn’t want him to feel like it was charity at the time. He was dead ass broke then. Anyways when he checked out, the owner called me and asked how well I knew the guy because there was damage to the room. I went down to the hotel and there were definitely burn marks in the bathtub. The guy was insistent that they could not have been there before Marty checked in. Marty denied that he caused the damage and I have no real proof that he did it other than the owners allegation. They ordered several hundred dollars of pizza per week and we had a good relationship that I didn’t want to jeopardize over a couple of hundred bucks so I ate the cost of the repairs. End of story.
