Transgender men are allowed, they just don't ever join or can't make the team.

But we are supposed to believe that transgender women (biological men) don't have a massive advantage over regular women because they took hormones lol

    SCIENCE!!!

Whats funny is The Diamondbacks are just the opposite their bottom of their lineup is shockingly good. Perdomo could have the best avg of a 9th slot hitter in forever batting .317 with .947 OPS and could easily blow his previous career SB total up to this season out of the water (he has 5 this season he only had 9 coming in total in his career).

Dbacks owned the Dodgers to start the season and between their Cy Young candidate in Gallen along with Kelly they could very well win the NL West this season. Theyve got more series wins then ties or losses so far combined and their ability to come back down in games is almost scary for other teams. In truth there benefitting from fewer divisional games 13 vs 19 per team but reality is theyve looked good outside of a brief hiccup where they lost the divisional lead but are nipping at the dodgers heels again. Its still early but I think its gonna be between LA and AZ for the division. One will win the other will be the #1 WC

And of course they would be the best men's boxers and mixed martial artists. It's shameful that men's sports teams discriminate against transgender men.

If the Dodgers want to win they need transgender men on the team.

It's funny that the Padres were expected to win the NL West, or at least be very close, and it looks like the Diamondbacks will be the Dodgers' main competition.

Somehow this team of no-namers is making it work, especially with the base stealing (2nd in NL, behind the Pirates). They're also best in the NL in batting average.

Honestly I forgot what thread I was in. I was just reading new posts and thought this was the MLB thread.

I dialed down my NBA fandom when they did all the bullshit BLM stuff in 2020, but it's a lot harder for me to quit baseball, and the Dodgers specifically.

Here is something that should be apparent to you as you spend 4 hours commuting to the game. You have the population density of freaking Tokyo.

Combine your population with the magic no longer possessed by the Cubs and Red Sox - a multi generational championship drought.

The worst thing that would ever happen to the Dodgers popularity would be winning a World Series. Friedman acts as if he knows this. He isn’t going to make the same mistake as Theo Epstein did when he broke the Curse of the Bambino then removed the curse in Chicago.

Why didn’t the Dodgers pursue Epstein more vigorously? I gotta reread “The Best Team Money Can Buy”, I forgot the answer.

Boston had a string of consecutive sellouts that ran for years prior to their Championship in 2004. Today? Not so much.

Guaranteed your hockey analog, the Toronto Maple Leafs, sells out next year and they are a continued fixation for that city

I can't speak for the Cubs but the Red Sox aren't the love of New England anymore because they're terrible and trade away their best players. The '04 team had Pedro, Manny, Papi, Schilling, D Lowe, K Millar and Folke (who was fuckin' huge in '04). They had Tessie for cryin' out loud! Now its Keke Hernandez and Chris Sale and bunch of nobodies. Plus there was Sean and Jerry calling the games on tv and excellent radio guys. The Sox are boring now and have been for years. Trading Mookie Betts was one of the last straws for me. Like, how do you justify trading Betts and Bogaerts AND having the most expensive seats in MLB? The Red Sox can go fuck themselves. They ruined baseball here and they didn't even need some stupid woke controversy to do it.

Time for Sanlmar to hate on Kershaw.

    https://twitter.com/MZHemingway/status/1662206013779607552

I'm sad to see that Kershaw has been talked into this bullshit.

I'm not talking about the Christian night. They had that in the late 2010s (as well as a Jewish night), and somehow it disappeared in the 2020s. It's pointless to have this at a baseball game, but not harmful in any way.

Kershaw has always been a religious Christian. That has influenced some of the positive behaviors we've seen from him. He doesn't get in trouble, almost surely doesn't cheat on his wife, and runs a charity out of a sincere desire to help, and not just for optics. I respect all of this.

However, I believe that Kershaw is also one of those Christians who was talked into somewhat supporting all the woke nonsense, with the belief that he's simply doing the Christian thing and supporting the persecuted. (This, unfortunately, is the same line used to get Jewish support of this type of nonsense.)

When the Dodgers refused to play a game in August 2020 as a show of support for career criminal Jacob Blake (yes, this shit actually happened), Clayton Kershaw was one of the Dodgers at the forefront of supporting that effort.

    Dumb.

Anyway, I believe with this Sisters incident, Kershaw probably expressed some concern to the Dodgers that many of his fellow Christians felt that the team didn't care about then. The Dodgers then likely came back with, "Oh, that's not true, Clayton! In fact, why don't we bring back that Christian Faith night we used to do a few years ago? That will show the fans that we are only trying to make a statement of tolerance and inclusion, but at the same time, respect their devotion to Jesus."

Kershaw likely thought this was a swell idea, and addressed his concerns, and here we are.

This isn’t fair. I never criticized his character. Never. He is a nice human given all evidence. I have always simply contended that Kershaw was not the GOAT the public felt he was. He did not have the skill or the mental makeup to compete at the highest level. All the evidence confirmed my position.

Entertaining way to pass the summer. Give him that.

I will speculate the Dodgers originated the Christian Night as an attempt to spin their LGBQ fiasco. They must have the Bud Light marketing genius on their payroll. They keep drilling holes.

The Dodgers prolly ran it past Kershaw and he being a simple human of fair intelligence was indeed “talked into” the idea. He prolly does now think it’s a “swell idea”. It’s not. Sport, religion and politics should not mix. No two should intersect in a Venn diagram

Like you i too genuinely feel kinda sad for Kershaw. Loses his mother and now the stupid Dodgers use him as a pawn and further complicating his life.

Happy Kershaw Day regardless of the outcome today Druff. Prolly too late to grab an over 7.5, huh? Give it a try. That brand name will never die. 7.5 made zero.zero sense. Trap?

I didn't go to Jew night. I'll admit I was considering it.

I used to wear a similar shirt to the WSOP which said Coca-Cola on it in Hebrew. Unfortunately the shirt got old and I gained weight, so that was the end of that.

I don't think they've brought Jew night back, even though Kershaw revived his Christian night. The Jew night was created shortly after the Christian night, maybe like a year later.

The origins of Christian night came from the fact that two prominent players on the team -- Adrian Gonzalez and Clayton Kershaw -- were religious Christians. They also had AJ Ellis at the time, who couldn't hit, but remained Kershaw's personal catcher for years because Ellis was also a big time Christian, and Kershaw demanded he remain on the team to catch him.

If you remember back to the 1990s, there was another Christian contingent on the Dodgers, but there was no Christian night. Brett Butler, Todd Worrell, and a few other veterans were very into the Christian stuff, and apparently they were a little clique which excluded everyone else. This made for bad team chemistry -- something some players complained about after leaving the Dodgers.

Then of course there was the situation with Ben Zobrist on the Cubs, a religious Christian who married a chick who seemed to be straight out of the repressed religious girl trope from porn. Sure enough, she ended up cheating on him with their pastor and marriage counselor (lol), which literally depressed him out of baseball. This was one of the rare times where the famous athlete was faithful and the wife wasn't. The only other one I can think of was Tim Duncan's wife.

If you are telling me the Dodgers had a Christian Night previously I’ll pick up my cross and start walking.

Otherwise, the mere fact that the team had devout Christians is unremarkable unless you are SoCal Jew

Yes, they had one in the mid-2010s. The Clayton Kershaw/Adrian Gonzalez contingent made this happen.

They added a Jew night a year later, I believe.

Both disappeared in 2020, as the promotions were all reshuffled due to COVID, and this was one of the casualties.

I agree that the team having devout Christians is otherwise unremarkable. I usually only mention it when naming players who are less likely to screw around on their wives while on the road. You never know for sure, but I couldn't picture Kershaw doing it, and I'm pretty sure Zobrist resisted temptation as well. That's part of the reason why Zobrist fell into that tremendous depression when he found out his wife was banging the marriage counselor while he was gone.

Christian Night & Jew Night…This is all completely nuts. I was oblivious and learned something here.
