No one suggests a decades old poker forum is trending.
However, the drop in membership is not a factor of aging. In many ways a forum of this “pedigree”, yeah I said it, would be more attractive to a population on the outs.

Couple years ago Reddit shut down most of their controversial boards. Those posters went to discord and telegram where their activity isn’t as public.

Reddits a fairly young crowd although it’s gone very left wing in the last few years.

One of the reasons I loved the b&m joints back in the day was that they were full of characters, and the banter was always good. The women dished it out as a good as the men (Barbara Enright was a master). In today’s politically correct world, you can’t say anything anymore without catching shit.

Nobody reads Twitter, nobody is involved in any of the poker world drama, and it's just a bunch of degenerates looking to gamble. I still hear crass and politically incorrect talk at the table all the time, and nobody gives a shit.

The only poker drama I've ever heard discuss was the Robbi J4 hand and the Postle situation, but those were so huge that everyone heard about it. But the rest of it, nobody has any clue, and nobody wants to know.

In a way it's refreshing. Almost makes up for all the yelling, superstition, and other bad behavior I see in these rooms, which happens just a fraction of the time in other places.

I haven’t played in LA since Covid, but I’m in OC for Mother’s Day and they have a $600 WPT HORSE event tomorrow at Hawaiian Gardens, so I’m going to play it.

On a related note Tellafriend, you have demonstrated perhaps the clearest most rational world view on this site. Especially things financial. You have a great feel for the macro trends. Here’s the facts: The business of America and American politics is business. The infertile millenials with their dogs & the pitiful numbers of sterile zoomers aren’t gonna cut it if America is gonna make it or possibly thrive. Simply not enough workers or consumers. We are going to be forced to import them. Despite the immigration conversation today the solution will inevitably be large numbers of immigrants from countries that still make babies. I’m not so sure the faces will be LatinX either. Personally, I doubt it.

Sure I would prefer parents had the birds and bees talk with kids but that’s “boomer think”.

I had a service business and got out for many reasons including staffing. The new owners just did a across the board 10% salary increase. They didn’t do that cause they are swell guys. They are actually kind of young and are gonna learn some things. May god have mercy on their souls. They would gladly welcome some Indian or Asian help or customers for that matter. Guys like these owners will communicate that need to their representatives. Need bodies.

In a decade you aren’t gonna believe what you see. Actually, I think you will be the least surprised.

The signal to noise on Reddit renders it near worthless. You can waste a lot time

Discord is so narrow focus. We on PFA covered every topic imaginable. You can go back and find a post from 8 years ago fairly easily too. You can’t do that on discord.

Discord skews young and Zoomerish which is really awful. Not exactly a feature. It does feed my ego. Average intelligence amongst the zoomers makes you a god.

We started a hockey Wagering Discord and developed a tight community using stuff I’ve observed here. Inside jokes and memes. Made guys and hazing noobs. We annointed an admin who is absolutely hysterical.

We started an off topic thread that is a tribute to the core group. I am absolutely the oldest but I would still be if I were 38 too. They suspect I know stuff cause I’ve seen history first hand and suspect I might even be married - oooh!

Everyone is really great at respecting each other though we are opposite picks and life.
