Trump did a lot of good things, Vegetera. One time Mickey posted a pretty elaborate and impressive list. There were many accomplishments and, most importantly, there was relative peace. He doesn't seem to know how to make and keep friends; only enemies and more of them all the time. When he was president he was attacked and disrespected by the media. The coverage was not fair. His accomplishments were overlooked because everyone hated him so much.

Me, I can't stand him and have never supported him but the 2nd impeachment at least was a sham and unconstitutional. As for these charges I think most people know this is just a continuation of Trump's enemies going after him. The prosecutor is black and probably feels a real thrill in going after Trump who famously called for the death penalty for the Central Park 5 and who was disrespectful to Obama regarding his birth certificate. I do think Trump should be stopped from becoming president again except it should be the voters who decide.

With the benefit of time the 1st impeachment looks far more dubious. We've learned a lot more about Hunter Biden since then and so the context of the phone call which lead to that impeachment is better understood. I'm not so sure if we all knew then what we know now that the outcome would've been the same.

Those who support him aren't going to be moved by these charges. In fact, if it comes down to Trump running against the guy who has lead us into war and who's family has taken money from the Chinese I'm with Trump even though he disgusts me.

I do not like to comment on legal issues until I have a chance to understand them. But , now that I have read Trump's indictment here is my take:

34 identical counts with different dates in 2017 under NY Penal Law 175.10. It's my understanding NY has a 5 year statute of limitations for Class E Felonies.

Under NY Code the statute requires two elements:
1. Falsifying a business record
_and-
2. To further another felony.

The indictment does not say what the other felony Trump was furthering, I would argue that is defective to the indictment proceeding.

The Judge's daughter worked on VP Harris's 2020 campaign...

Judge's are elected in NY - by heavy democrat voters in that part of the state..

All the offenses are outside statute of limitations.

Alan Dershowitz has pointed out some very disturbing realities.

In a city that votes 85% democrat, this judge, Juan Merchan, will not want to be known as the judge that dismissed a case against Trump.

Dershowitz says it's the same for jurors. No one will want to be known as the juror that let Trump go.

He says if it goes to trial an acquittal will never happen. The best Trump can hope for is a hung jury.

Another item, the transactions occurred in 2017. The election was over in Nov 2016. So Bragg's bullshit about Trump trying to deceive voters is....bullshit.

Another thing is a ruling that the statute of limitations does not apply is appealable which gives Trump some wiggle room.

I personally have no faith that any judge in New York will live up to their oath to uphold the law and throw out Trumps case. I think it will eventually wind up at SCOTUS. But I could be wrong. I hope I am.

Buried deep in the text of the mammoth National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is a gargantuan money dump into the Israeli defense industry, with $705 million specifically earmarked for “US-Israel missile defense cooperation.”

The funding represents a full 1/100th of the whopping $700 billion military spending package, and a staggering $558 million increase from what President Donald Trump had originally requested.

Approved by the Senate with almost total bipartisan consensus, the NDAA represents an $80 billion surge in military spending, $26 billion more than Trump originally requested. The bill puts funding for the military at parity with the spending levels of the George W. Bush era, when the so-called war on terror was at its height.

Only four Senate Democrats voted against the bill.

As reporter Alex Emmons noted, the colossal increase in military funding could have financed Sen. Bernie Sanders’ proposal for free public college for all Americans, with $33 billion to spare for additional social programs.
