Beatles
Stones
Zeppelin
Beach Boys
Eagles
The top 4 are undisputed, I could be talked into The Who or Rush at 5. Eagles are probably controversial as a subset of people hate them, I am not among them. Glen and Don were insufferable tho for sure.

Eagles get a bad rap and The Dude made it cool to hate them, they certainly have lots of gay shit but overall they are great. Everyone hates on Hotel California because how overplayed it has been but Felder/Walsh guitar work in that is top shelf, especially Walsh who is God (he comes in 2nd)
THE BAND would have to be in there for me. 3 great lead singers, got booed with the best to ever do it, had Clapton allegedly wanting to join their band (no thanks).
Beatles and Stones are pretty much givens imo, but no on U2. Good band but could never listen to them over and over like the others.
Obviously, everything is subjective, but maybe Les can tell me what I'm wrong about. Thanks.
If you're going to include
BEACH BOYS
in the list, you have to givre some props to the
WRECKING CREW
who were maybe the most talented "band" ever. (They made "Pet Sounds" the huge success that it was)
I've only seen one mention of
ELO
who I think definitely should be on the list. (As an aside, Jeff Lynn not only made ELO a super group, but had a tremendous influence on countless songs for other artists.)
BEATLES
get overlooked because the whole phenomenon makes it hard to see them as the excellent musicians and singers that they were, blending so perfectly.
I'm going to throw in
THE SPINNERS
because I'm a woke white guy and, hey, I just love their sound.
Honorable mention
DEL MCCOURY BAND
'cuz a little bluegrass is always a good thing to throw in the mix

Curious at the lack of Southern Rock itt, Skynyrd and Allman Brothers are probably the USA's best competition to the typical British bands that always dominate these discussions
I had to quit this thread you fucking idiots. Best bands ever does not include your personal jack off music.
IT’s objective. For these reasons. Number of hits, longevity, album sales etc., etc.
You cannot rank any band above the Beatles. The numbers do not support it. Same with the Stones, U2 and Zeppelin. I don’t care what you like they don’t rank above the preceding.
So one spot remains and it is not clear cut. Many are in the running. Aerosmith for instance. Hits/longevity is off the charts
Wake up losers

This is a good example of rating a band. Are they top five, top ten etc. etc.?
Aerosmith may not be as familiar to a younger crowd but that is not the criteria
It’s all time bitch. This is an objective viewpoint, not one based on who saw who you fucking retards
You hillbilly inbred Appellation River pig squealers

dude Skynyrd is a good rock band even if you have an irrational hatred for America.

i will not be attending, but i am definitely watching the Pixies, Interpol and Cat Powers
Beach Boys
The North American Man/Boy Love Association (NAMBLA)
Stop your gayness
