Cheap Jew tips for squeezing value out of Vegas

From the minute you step off the plane till the time you leave, the city of Las Vegas is holding you up by the ankles trying to shake every last nickel it can out of you. A couple of years ago after being long hauled to the tune of a $30 meter from the airport to Venetian (should be about $17) I finally snapped! Now when I prepare for a trip to Vegas I am like a general developing my battle plan. I scour the internet for weaknesses in the city's defenses (promotions and +ev plays) and avoid the many traps (6/5 black jack and short pay vp) being among the worst.

Here is a brief description of some of the things I am doing on my trip next weekend to save or make some extra Jew gold. I am renting a car so I can get around town cheaply since there is much value to be had off the strip. I do plan on drinking during the day at least once so there will be at least a couple cab rides but it still saves a ton over all. Shout out to Hockey Guy for hooking me up with a couple sweet rental car codes.

I purchased the American Casino Guide's book with all the coupons for half off and 2 for 1 dining and match plays. I already used the most valuable ones on a previous trip but there are still a few that I can use. I do not make special trips to use these unless it is convenient or there is another reason I will be in that particular casino btw.

I will purchase $40 in free play from the Trop and the Palms for $25 from slotplaycoupons.com since I will be gambling briefly at both places. Note that its $50 in free play for $25 if you are new to the casino's players clubs.

I have already taken advantage of the best loss rebate promos in town (Cosmo, Trop, Palms and Westin Casuarnina) but there is a new one at the Plaza which I will be hitting.

I liked M resort using my wife's Facebook account (I never made one) to get I think it was $10 in comps. I will use that when we head there for the buffet and those mashed potatoes Chainsaw is so fond of. The thing I always look forward to is a pistachio ice cream cone for dessert. I get a mailer for a free buffet but everybody else in my group will play slots to earn what amounts to a discounted buffet.

The El Cortez has a check cashing promo that I am able to use since all Federal government checks are eligible. They will give you 5% of your check amount in free play up to $50. This is also nice since I dont need to carry as much cash into town.

I should mention that we are all staying gratis at the Golden Nugget thanks to a sweet hook up a family member has arranged through her neighbor who is affiliated with the hotel. That was a bit of run good! I also have comped room offers from the Palms resulting from full pay vp play, but why use it if I dont need to?

Any place I plan to gamble I always check vpfree2 to find out what machines are best and stick to those games only. I do not count cards so the only time I play black jack is when using a match play. The only other gambling I do is poker. However, I am making an exception for this trip only since its my 40th birthday and I will have 7 friends and family with me. I will engage in some -ev gambling with them and will be doing less gambling over all and more sight seeing and partying than I do on my solo trips.

The one exception to my niggardly approach to doing Vegas (solo or with a group) is fine dining. I look forward to the eating more than the gambling when I go to Vegas nowadays, but that is for another thread.

In closing I would like to say that despite my "this is a war for my Jew gold" attitude towards Vegas, I look at it as a challenging game and really enjoy it. Las Vegas is a fascinating place with its combination of excitement, degeneracy and desperation and it will always be my favorite vacation spot because of it.

You're welcome. Hopefully other people will chime in with tips of their own.
