Man Sues CET For Short Changing Slot Tickets!

    https://weartv.com/amp/news/local/ma...h-out-machines

It finally happened, someone got fed up with the nickel and dime antics of casinos.

Druff should have a fun time making a radio topic out of it! I admit I hate going to the cage for a left over slot ticket of 99 cents or less. But I’ll some times make a game out of trying to find a machine or machines with left over credits that equal the amount I need to make it a round dollar figure! Once even found $130 left on a high limit machine thinking it was a penny machine with 130 credits for $1.30 at first hahaha!

It appears this CET just straight rounds the tickets down and doesn’t print out the remaining cents on a voucher for redemption though! Could be interesting how it pans out!

This is outright theft. CET is making a 12(b)(6) motion. They are hard to win against a well drafted complaint. This would make an outstanding bar exam question.

Venue is absolutely critical. We’re in Louisiana federal court. Good that it’s not in New Jersey or Nevada. The casinos hold too much sway there. Now the judge will apply Louisiana state law to what is essentially a contract dispute. It is the only state that doesn’t follow the common law, derived from the English. They use civil law, from France. I won’t go into the nuances, but a judge in another state might very well rule the other way on the same issue.

There's a similar lawsuit in progress against Beau Rivage in Biloxi. I don't know what jurisdiction is trying it though.

Law 360 reports Caesars says Young is suing the wrong company because they don't own the Horseshoe Bossier City, where Young played.

Caesars sold that casino to Vici Properties in 2017 but still manages it under a lease agreement.

    What a bullshit argument.

They sold the LAND and BUILDINGS to Vici properties in 2017. That has nothing to do with the operation of the casino, and therefore has nothing to do with this case.

It would be like suing a business for cheating you, and they claim that you shouldn't be suing them because someone else owns the physical building where they do business. Dumb.

I once had a vagrant in Atlantic City approach me as I was leaving a CET property. They asked me for spare change, and I realized that I did in fact have change that I could spare in the form of a 3 cent slot voucher!

I handed them the folded up ticket that I likely would have just stuffed in a drawer when I got home. Their eyes got wide as they opened it to see the "prize" inside was a whopping 3 cents! They stared as I walked away and hurled the ticket in the garbage can nearby.

So it would appear even the destitute find it burdensome to walk all the way to the casino cage to redeem such a low amount!
