Jami Lafay versus Pokerhontas

Jami Lafay is a nutty poker chick in her early 40s who always seems to get involved in Twitter drama. In late December, I discussed another controversy she was involved with, where she told a guy at a poker table out loud that he smelled, demanded a table change, and then bragged about it on Twitter.

Most of poker Twitter didn't appreciate that, and got on her case.

In that particular drama, a lot of the Twitter wokes got on her case because she wasn't sensitive enough to the guy's plight of smelling bad (lol).

In this current drama, Jami is the one taking the woke position, and doing a ton of virtue signaling. This has been her M/O in general. She's all over the place -- sometimes taking the "fuck you, I'll do what I want and don't care if it offends you" position, and sometimes taking the woke "omg how can you be so insensitive" virtue signaling position. The one this week is the latter.

Pokerhontas is some young female Vegas wannabe poker pro who is apparently at least part Native American, and chose the nickname as a play on "Pocohontas". It should be noted that this has been done before, as legendary old-school female player Betty Carey used the name "Pokerhauntez" on Party Poker in the early 2000s.

Anyway, unlike the early 2000s when people would chuckle at a name like Pokerhauntez, of course we have to get some woke virtue signaling about it being offensive, even though "Pokerhontas" is apparently Native American herself.

This led to Jami, who claims to be Comanche (who knows if that's true, or if she's another Elizabeth Warren), to give her a hard time while playing live with her, and Pokerhontas kinda freaked out and said she would change her name and step away from social media.

Surprisingly there was little pushback to Jami for blowing up this whole thing needlessly, aside from that one Tom guy.

I thought she was an entertaining player. I don't know if she won or lost, but she is an experienced player.
I'm sure she could come back if she wanted. Maybe she doesn't think she can beat the game.
