    .
I will say as someone who has battled clinical depression that I am genuinely concerned for Garrett. It comes off as authentic to me and usually my read on this is pretty spot on. He has spoken about spending months in bed and every time he has spoken about it, it has always lined up consistent with my knowledge & experience. It is not a mitigating factor or an excuse for his actions. But I genuinely hope he has a good support system around him.

Easy games or not, gambling for such huge amounts of money and not being staked is an incredibly stressful way to make a living. If I woke up tomorrow 20 million richer & 20 years younger I wouldn’t even give a second thought to playing these type stakes & dealing with these type swings. If couldn’t handle it. On a human level I hope he is doing alright.

A cheating scandal in poker is the best thing that could of happened for Doug Polk. The crypto disaster and the apparent coverup of an armed robbery of a high stakes on-stream player in the Lodge parking lot. Doug was hunkered down. Not much on Twitter & no videos for a while. Polk getting to turn the page now. The funny thing is this week Oct 6/Oct 7 were supposed to be “Doug Polk Week” on Hustler Casino Live. I would imagine that Doug will most likely cancel but it will be interesting to see what happens.

This doesn’t look good for Garrett. Also just an awful spot for Ryan & Nick. They don’t just own HLC, they are good friends with Garrett. If she didn’t cheat, Garrett really put them in an awful situation.

Anyways I’m sure there is a lot more in this stream.

Thanks for reminding me about the Lodge parking lot robbery. Will definitely be on the upcoming radio (whenever this damn cold/cough gets better). That has gotten like zero attention. Obviously not Doug's fault, but it's a persistent reminder that these Texas poker rooms are somewhat dangerous.

But yeah, this scandal is definitely drowning out everything else.

Definitely one of the biggest poker stories to date. In chronological order, here are the huge poker stories which are most memorable, in my opinion:

2003: Chris Moneymaker wins WSOP from a $40 investment (beginning of poker boom)

2006: UIGEA passes, making real money online gambling officially illegal in the US. Several big US-facing sites shut down.

2007: Absolute Poker cheating scandal (followed by related UB scandal in 2008)

2011: Black Friday busts (and the realization that Full Tilt was broke and stole player funds)

2019: Mike Postle cheating allegations on Stones stream

2022: Robbi Lew cheating allegations on Hustler stream

What bothers me the most about this is the fact that Garrett got the money back on the spot. That sets a horrible precedent, and this should literally never happen under any circumstances, short of a player being caught red handed cheating (which isn't what happened here, obviously).

You can't just demand (or imply you're demanding) money BACK from a hand because you think something shady happened. People THINK they're being cheated all the time, but the percentage of time it's actual cheating in these cases is fairly low. Demanding money back from the hand winner is straight out of a scene from a mob-infested '80s poker game at the Dunes, or a shady home poker game somewhere out on the road.

A seasoned (and highly profitable) pro like Garrett should NEVER demand money back from a recreational player who beats him, even if he's "sure" he got cheated. Even if he didn't demand it and Robbi offered (which goes against what Ryan Feldman said he heard), he still shouldn't have accepted it. If there really was a major cheating concern, Robbi should have been asked to put the $135k in escrow, to be managed by Hustler Casino, and a contract should have been signed by both players indicating they were agreeing to this escrow, to be released to Robbi if cheating cannot be proven in X number of days.

Under no circumstance should Garrett have taken that money. The fact that he's still holding it days later is especially offensive.

This is honestly the worst part of the entire story. It's interesting to discuss "did she cheat or is Garrett just a sore loser", since it's not obvious either way. However, there should be ZERO doubt that Garrett did the wrong thing by taking the money, especially if he asked for it.

Robbi can file a complaint with the governing body and lay back and wait.

The first thing Andy said was if you think there is cheating you are accusing Hustler.

Funny how Nick said Ryan is a midget and avoids confrontation.

The homo comment is interesting since all the topless pics of Garrett would best be published in Out Magazine.

She was on the show to expose her silicon enhancement for the benefit of the audience.

She was the fish on the show and willing to drop some coin to raise her social media profile.

Why is she being backed if she is rich?

$125K is chump change in litigation.

As I mentioned earlier, taking the deck out for examination would have been the obvious move and not doing so may be a crime or loss of defense for H.

I thought Nick was a cop for 20 years. He sounded like a guilty man.

Garrett foolishly posts a long statement. Soon to be repeated during a deposition.

I hope Druff doesn't get sued.

There’s evidence now Ryan was behind pressuring her to give it back though. Robbi claimed Ryan pulled her aside before she ever got hallwayed to talk to Garrett. As I said before given Ryan’s friendship with Adelstein going back to LATB this is a bad look

Regarding Garrett, I don't know him, have never met him, and don't have strong feelings about him one way or another.

I will say that his whole "perfect, sensitive, zen guy" routine was a little nauseating. It seemed like he tried too hard to come off as an unshakeable, polite, highly successful poker pro with an incredible amount of empathy, and a rich, well-balanced life off the felt. Now, if that's his real situation, that's great, and indeed it separates him for almost all other poker pros, who often have leaks/demons/issues to various degrees.

Not only that, but he works out, and posts shirtless pics on social media, which look great considering that he's over 40. You can look at guys like Shaun Deeb and say, "Well, he's a great player, but look how fat he is!" Garrett wants you to see that his dedication to poker doesn't mean that he neglects his body or his health.

Even main Twitter pic screams, "Look at me, I'm well-rounded!"

Not only is Garrett a great cash poker player, but he's also a great ballroom dancer, who has loads of fun while doing it! Is there anything he can't do?!

That's why I was a little surprised when he admitted to experiencing major depression issues, after vanishing for most of the second half of 2021. I don't look down upon that. I experienced major anxiety and depression issues myself in 2018, and they were hell. It was the worst 3 months of my life, and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. But it was the first look into Garrett's life not being perfect.

However, at the same time, I always felt like this guy was too much shine and not enough substance. I am always suspicious of people who always seem happy, rarely show negative emotion, and throw in your face how zen/calm/positive they are. Sometimes that's simply covering a lot of darkness.

If anything, this might have ripped the mask off of Garrett. It shows that he's a flawed human being who believes he's above the average poker playing schlub (hence his entitled belief that he deserved the $135k back on the spot), and that he will assert his influence and positive rep to get what he wants, when he feels it's to his benefit. I think that's why many are turning against him. When your happy, calm, zen poker hero does a somewhat ugly thing, it's jarring.

Garrett was always a guy I felt was a lot different in reality than the face he presents to the public.

She could have cheated sure but the amount of GTO like approaches from poker nerds is ridiculous.

Doug Polk calling her dumb is classic Doug he should spend more time worrying about security at The Lodge or blending in his terrible seven shades of orange fake tan he has on his forehead.

Marle Poker is a clown who tries to meme everything but she did make a few valid points on ChicagoJoey podcast that the poker industry is full of people making money off others with coaching type stuff blowing smoke up others asses to benefit that way. You can pay for the best coaching and still never win at poker. In huge games like this you will have no hope.

David "Foot Fetish" Williams got on there and made some points too regarding how loose some home games can be where calls like this happen a lot. She's an amateur who was backed at least 50% in this game by RIP and could be backed more elsewhere wtf knows? While the call seems completely ridiculous all these pros look at it as if she knows poker math and wouldn't flip out here if she feels she is being bluffed.

Not a popular opinion but if you eliminate running it more than once you will see less people trying to chase down half the pot or suck out entirely.

I highly doubt internally with production that something shady was going on it makes no sense the risk to reward, If anything Garrett can afford to take this hit and get his money back later while her spaz plays make it good for the game.

Pro poker player is accused of using 'hidden vibrating device' to help her win $130,000 hand: Gives money back to her opponent - but claims she was forced to hand it over 'in a dark hallway'

    • Poker newcomer Robbi Jade Lew won an all-in hand for a pot of $269,000
    • Garrett Adelstein, who lost the hand, believes she cheated during the game
    • Lew, 35, then gave back he winnings shortly afterwards with Adelstein seeing the gesture as 'an admission of guilty'
    • The game was captured on a livestream during a Hustler Casino Live tournament
    • Hustler Casino has said neither player will be invited to return until the incident had been investigated
    • Adelstein, 36, has appeared more than 50 times on the casino's livestreamed show winning more than $1.6million
    • By contrast, Lew has only appeared twice collecting just over $100k in winnings

    I’m no pro poker player, but I’ve never mistaken a 4 for a 3.

    Mixed up a 4 and ace….but not a 3

Various trolls have said or implied that Robbi is really a man, and has transitioned to a woman. I never gave these much credit, especially after hearing her voice on Joey's show. Very feminine. The hardest thing for a male-to-female trans to do is change their voice to sound convincingly female. This is because male vocal cords irreversably stretch during puberty. With intense training, some can fake it (especially if they have a higher pitched male voice anyway), but very few can sound completely female. Robbi's voice sounded very naturally female.

However, I found something weird tonight, and it warranted future investigation, which led to some other findings.

Doug Polk noted in his video that Robbi somehow had her Hendonmob results shaved down. Previously, it indicated that she played dating back to 2010, with a lot of results starting in 2015. However, this contradicted what she said and what her husband (Charles Lew) and coach (Faraz Jaka) said. Both of them identified her as a "new player" who started playing about a year ago. So which is it?

Well, indeed, now her Hendonmob shows only results from October 2021 through present: https://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/pla...p?a=r&n=169784

So what happened to those other results? The explanation was that it was a "mistake", and that it was a different person merged in with her. But how could there be two women Robbi Jade Lew who play poker?

I decided to look into this.

I found that, in 2018, at the same URL, these results were listed under Robert Lew:

    Name: robertlew.png
Views: 1913
Size: 126.9 KB

    https://web.archive.org/web/20180403...p?a=r&n=169784

So what does this mean? Is this proof positive that Robbi Lew was once Robert Lew, and is attempting to hide this?

No. Further investigation has led me to be almost certain that Robert Lew and Robbi Jade Lew are indeed two separate people, and in fact I have unearthed more about Robbi Lew's past.

Recall that Lew is her married name. She married Charles Lew, an attorney who appeared on Chicago Joey's show yesterday. Her maiden name was completely different: Rabia Jade Hussain.

She is not 35 years old, as some articles have stated. She's actually 38. She started college 20 year ago, in 2002.

    Here is her Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/robbi-hussain-lew-74725a40

There is another Rabia Hussain on Linkedin who works for Citibank. That is NOT her. As you can see, the Rabia we know has worked at various biotech companies since 2006, so her claimed backstory checks out.

Rabia Jade Hussein filed a trademark application in 2013. The attorney? Charles Lew, who is now her husband.

And who is this Robert Lew? He's a Sacramento area poker player, who has results as recently as November 2021: https://www.cardplayer.com/poker-pla...esults/overall

In case you're wondering, it does not appear that Robbi Jade Lew ever lived in or near Sacramento.

Conclusion: The Hendonmob results were indeed wrong, and now they are correct. Robbi Lew only has tournament results dating back a year, so the claim that she just got into poker a year ago appears to be the truth. Robert Lew, whose results were mixed up with hers, is a separate person from Sacramento. She also appears to be telling the truth regarding having a longtime background in the biotech industry.

Incredibly well written. However, I beat you by 3 days and 80 posts to this conclusion. You didn’t think I wasn’t gonna tweak you?

I played some live poker during the hay day at Foxwoods and the code I learned made it quite clear. Garrett’s refusal of the money should have been instantaneous and without any self doubt.

As a seasoned pro I’m surprised it took you so long. But you are 100% correct.

I don't remember. I didn't exactly sit there studying his shirtless pics when posted. I do remember noticing he was in good shape for over 40, though.

Again, this tweet from May 2 says so many things at the same time:

    https://twitter.com/GmanPoker/status/1521330623570333697

Not only does it chide Hellmuth for asking for an amateur to give him another $5,000 after the hand was over (ironic, huh?), but he also favorably compares himself to Hellmuth.

"Everything I do at the poker table (and life) is essentially the opposite of Helmuth, who is wildly famous, successful, and well-connected so what the hell do I know?"

Hellmuth, of course, is known for being rude, immature, and whiny at the poker table. He's known for investing in and promoting dodgy things outside of poker, such as UB and Bitcoin Latinum. Garrett wanted you to know, back on May 2, that despite both he and Hellmuth being highly successful pro players, he doesn't have the faults Hellmuth does. He's telling you to take everything you hate about Hellmuth, and know he's the opposite.

This is basically an obnoxious brag. It's saying, "Not only am I a great poker player, but unlike Hellmuth, but I'm a great human being and treat everyone with the utmost respect." Just sounds like too much self-back-patting, while pretending to be humble. If you're a great, empathetic guy, you don't need to keep reminding people of it.

I actually think it's refreshing to see pros show open emotion when losing (think Negreanu), because it's genuine. When we don't see that, and when everything is always positive, over-respectful, and happy, it feels unnatural -- and often is.

Every single one of us has been at the table with the bodybuilder. There is more steroids in poker than baseball. They are always regulars and depending on their cycle they have different moods and behaviors day to day. Learning to manage these guys is just an unpleasant part of the overhead of poker.

Coming off tren or trt or whatever the heck is rough on an old guy. You mix those issues with the stress of poker and who knows what you get on a given day.

    I don’t miss it.

You can only guess at Garrett’s clouded judgement that day. There are no excuses nevertheless

Here is the statement from Andy Stacks, who was present at the table. At the time of the incident, Bart Hanson (commentator) noted that Andy looked very concerned, but he didn't verbalize anything notable.

This is an incredibly empty statement. He's basically saying that the hand was strange but we shouldn't jump to conclusions. Okay?
