McCormack was mostly liked in the community, but some resented him for allowing and encouraging the proliferation of "private games", which essentially operated like home games at the Aria. Because Nevada law forbids actual private games from running in licensed casinos, Aria used various quasi-legal tactics to get around that law, and keep certain games limited to various preferred players.

Not much is likely to change at Aria was McCormack gone, as he will now be the boss of whomever takes over in his place.
