Any poker players up in here other than Druff?

Or just dudes in fear from them inept yet savvviest cheaters in the history of politics?
WSOP was a drag for me this year. Got out of the gates 10k winner in cash games in the first week and finished -17k after 7 weeks. Airballed 6 tournaments, lost many thousands on the Celtics in the NBA Finals and ran bad in cash games and didn't play my A+ game at the tail end..

On the drive home I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. Take 10k straight to Commerce and try to get the chips back, get my propping job back, get a real job for once waiting tables...
Instead I just took a few weeks away from gambling and tried to get my head and body right. We back to grinding daily and booking wins and on a nice 10k heater in 21 days back.. degen life but I love it. We are playing a baby PLO at 7 Mile on Saturday and Sunday now come thru and say hello the game is juicy and not insane big like the normal weekday game.

As far as regular forum posters, I don't know if we have any pro poker players left, besides Bart Hanson, who mostly posts about politics. We have some pro casino advantage players who also play poker, as well as some decent/good recreational players who do something else for a living, but play poker a lot as well.

The radio show has some accomplished pros who regularly listen, such as Matt Glantz, Ari Engel, David Bach, Bart, and Jonathan Little, among others. There are other pros who listen on and off, and some who used to listen a lot but stopped for whatever reason. Then there's some who listen and don't tell me, until they mention it years later when they see me at WSOP.

Regarding WSOP, those tournaments are full of variance, just like all tournaments, so it can be annoying when you play something like 6 events and brick them all.

The cash games at WSOP are frequently NOT good, despite the reputation of being great. This is because a lot of good/decent players come to town, who usually aren't in Vegas. When I lived in Vegas, I found the toughest 40-80/80-160/100-200/200-400 limit holdem games were during WSOP time, and it wasn't even close.

I do enjoy the 75-150 and 50-100 O8 cash games at WSOP, because you can't normally find those anywhere. But they're also not that great, unless you get people stumbling in who mainly play holdem and don't understand O8 strategy well.

Probably better that you had a cooling off period from gambling. That is what I have done when I've had an extended period of time where I'm not running well. Sometimes I will also switch it up to get "new scenery", such as playing more live if I'm slumping online, or vice-versa, or even switching which casino I play at.

I play poker. Sometimes daily and sometimes I don't play for weeks/months. Mostly $1-2 NLH. I'll be playing in Vegas later this month, probably at the Aria. They're practically begging for people to go there right now. I got $160 round trip from Hartford, a free room for 3 nights, $75 free play and $150 resort credit. If I can manage to avoid the dice table it should be a great trip. Jeffdime, jsearles, Bart, Brandon, Daly, Druff and Tradersky are all pros, I think.

I agree as a whole the games are not as great as advertised, but on weekend evenings you get in some great insane high variance games. I ran like dog shit in these games.. I split my time between Bellagio limit holdem games and Orleans limit O8 games because usually I print there and it's easy to offset expenses winning in these games. Since being back home I have played 90% NL with some PLO mixed in on weekends so the change in scenery and game most likely helped. Hadn't played a tournament since a WSOp cash in 2016 and the rust showed. I'll be back w a better showing next year.
My gf dealt it this year dealing cash games at Ballys. Being there the whole Series except for a few days in SD in the middle was a first and a learning experience. Being in top physical and mental state is a must. If any of you are broke next year I suggest giving dealing the WSOP a try. She made great money but prepared for some long 12 hour days..

Just before the Main started I played a satellite in the club on pokerrrr2 with 110 players for one seat to the Main Event. We get 3 handed and I have 80% of the chips in play. I finish 2nd obviously and kind of tilted off 8k the last week.

I play some 2-3-5 NL with winner straddle several times a week. I limit my sessions to 2 or 3 hours these days.
This past Monday (Labor Day) I played a $135 tournament at Graton Casino in preparation for the Run Good series next week.
Finished 15th for $229 or a grand total of $94 profit. Livin' the dream!!

I’m willing to wager every single one of us played poker fairly seriously back in the day.

We have a communal first hand experience with the growth, changes and decline of the game. Druff chronicled it all. We loved it. UIGEA changed everything. We aren’t a bunch of 20 year olds.

    Online died

We talk politics and mass murders but the poker history is always there. It’s interesting to read a trip report from someone. Druff’s bad beat jackpot post brought back very vivid and pleasant memories.

Nothing stays the same though. That’s life.
