However, I put the article in this thread because I wonder, if Dan Schneider had this ey eir "book" on his desk during his time working at Disney Studios, would he be the subject of the Buzzfeed article or rather be considered a champion worthy of a story by Time?
Never understood how Schneider avoided his "Me Too" moment. Yeah, he got quietly fired, but aside from that (and a lot of internet talk about him), he walked away unscathed. Maybe there weren't any victims willing to directly come forward and make allegations to law enforcement or media?
Remember the story about the "pool parties" where parents would drop off their young daughters, and they had a strict "no parents allowed" policy? It was just the girls and creepy ol' Dan. Yeah... not suspicious at all, right?
It saddened me to read all of this because I was a big "Head of the Class" fan in the '80s, and even saw an episode being taped in Burbank. I liked Dan's character best because it reminded me of myself in some ways -- a cynical high school computer guy who liked playing pranks. (I wasn't fat like him, though!) Then I was happy for him when he had producing success after his acting career cratered in the early '90s, and then I read that he's probably a pedo who abused teen girls. Hard to find people to admire in Hollywood these days.
By the way, Schneider lost a LOT of weight about 2-3 years ago. Between the weight loss, a new beard, and frequent wearing of glasses, you'd never recognize him as the same guy. I wonder if that's intentional. Maybe he was getting hassled on the street by people who heard the rumors about him. He's still good buddies with some of the Head of the Class actors, such as Dan Frischman (Arvid), Krystine Haje (Simone), and a few others. Haje is like 51 (the youngest of the group) and looks really good for her age, btw.
