    Gambler robbed after flashing winnings

    https://www.tampabay.com/news/crime/...-cash-winnings

Happened at the Hard Rock Tampa in June but only hit the local news today.

“ A gambler who won $53,000 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino earlier this summer was followed back to his hotel and robbed after he publicly flaunted his cash prize, according to court records”

The parking garage at Caesars AC was notorious for robberies in the years I played there. While the casino had lots of cameras, the parking garage had none. For example, an elderly woman who hit a slot jackpot of over $40k was robbed there on her way to her car. The stupid thing about that incident was that she refused the offer of casino security guards to escort her to her car. Not sure why she chose to go unescorted, but it cost her the money plus some time getting treated for the beatdown the robber(s) gave her in the process.

The scariest time I had in a casino winning money wasn't when I won my bracelet and $347k -- and took a healthy part of it in cash!

No, it was when I won a $40 tournament for a whopping $2k in 2007 -- at the Crystal Park Casino in Compton!

Yes, I'm talking about the same Compton.

After I won, various scary looking dudes were standing right outside the tournament room, watching me collect the money. Then two of them went up to me, separately, and asked if they could "borrow" some money. I declined.

I was all ready to leave, but not with these guys around watching me stroll to my car.

I just hung around the casino for awhile until they went away. I also kinda watched them to make sure they weren't hanging around by the door. Then, when the coast was clear, I briskly walked down the long hallway toward the exit, checking every so often if anyone was following me. Nobody was.

Then, once I got outside, I briskly walked to my car, hopped in, locked the door, and sped away. I was only at the tournament because a friend was hosting it, and I showed up as a favor. That was the first and last time I ever played there. I actually knew the area well, because I worked in Compton in the late 1990s, but this was at night, so that's a world of difference.

Same reason you shouldn't pose for photos or publicity stills with your winnings, random scammers & long lost relatives will come a callin under the guise of "How are You?" and "Let's catch up!"

This actually happened to me when I took my own selfie of a $5000 slot machine win. I made the mistake of adding to my social media page and low & behold, Ex-GFs were sending me DMs, even an old host from CET was seeing if I wanted to come down for dinner at the Casino she worked at!

Then came the scammers who pretended to be young, models from foreign countries and needed help for their dying mothers!

So all in all, the gold diggers of all descriptions, will smell the money and come after you.

Iirc one or two guys armed w something but not a firearm and they tried to rob him on the floor of his hotel room. He fought them off and I think kept his money though they weren’t caught. Was about 15 years ago so my recollection of the particulars might be slightly off.

Ok. I thought I had first mentioned this attempted robbery targeted Greg Raymer. But I left that part out. Confused
