Just noticed this heart wrenching thread. A slight correction is in order.
The parks and facilities maintenance wage is higher than that of a paramedic ambulance "operator" aka a driver.
If you feel your ambulance driver position deserves higher pay you should take it up with your union.
Les since were being civil here the problem is your take is actually incorrect. They're using this title ad hoc to describe anybody who works for Henderson EMS. On many trucks it is one Medic the primary provider and an EMT who is the driver. Someplaces do run dual medic trucks (an EMT has much lower training requirements usually 120-150hrs much like a CNA/Patient Aide vs a Medic who's training hours are closer to what's required to be a nurse). I don't know what staffing Henderson uses be it 1/1 or dual medic either way the education and training requirements as well as the responsibility for a medic are much much higher literally charged with saving lives, then any parks and rec person by far. Hendersons title for the position was honestly a little insulting the responsibility isn't just driving the ambulance by far if they're trying to hire a full certified/licensed paramedic for the job.
