I caught covid and I feel dumb

From the first day casinos reopened, I spent about 50hours/week or more looking for AP opportunities. I would religiously wear my KN95 snugly the whole time, every time. I got the vaccine and a booster.

This month, I was doing a weight loss prop bet and needed to fast as the weight in was coming up. As such, I would frequently lower my mask to drink fluids in crowded casinos.

    3 days of this... covid.

I feel a bit dumb now.

I am in my 40s, covid feels like a bad cold/flu. My sense of smell is fine.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting that I spend literally thousands of hours in crowded casinos without catching covid and the second I started to take off mask just for brief moments, I caught it. Damn my luck.

Getting sick is a great way to lose weight short term.

You should feel dumb for spending so much effort avoiding a cold.

At least now you have antibodies, and can take the mask off for good, and stop getting jabbed every 5 minutes.

Oh, he’s gonna get it again. He’s not exactly a shut-in.

The current strain of Omicron is apparently super contagious and is nailng a ton of people who haven't had COVID yet. From what I've seen, just about everyone who already had some form of COVID isn't getting it from this latest strain.

A big issue is that almost nobody is protected right now. People who got double or triple vaxxed almost all did it 6+ months ago, which means they've mostly worn off.

This leaves just about everyone vulnerable, and this highly contagious strain is loving it.

I think the WSOP is going to be a huge spreader of Omicron, and we are going to see lots of controversy about degens who don't want to give up their stack on Day 2+.

Is this strain of Omicrom different than the one from like three months ago? I’ve hardly paid attention.

I knew a number who had tested positive previously who got the strain circulating three months ago. My buddy I PM’d you about with the horrible AA experience to London just got back Monday and tested positive his first day back. What a nightmare trip. Five days to get his luggage and then this variant as a parting gift.

He got 4th shot about a month ago. It’s as everyone describes. Bad cold. Not anything like the experience of people I knew two years ago, one of of who is still on oxygen in his 40s. At this point I’d guess he’s never coming back to normal.

after 12 days my wife finally tested negative yesterday. It was a bad cold, nothing more, nothing less. She was triple vax'd. We were careful to separate ourselves as much as possible and somehow despite it being so contagious i didn't catch it.

BCR: I have first row tickets behind the Cleveland dugout for the 9th. Hopefully he’s 3 or 4 days in already or clears quicker. Don’t think he’d go to anything until he tests negative. Or even would be allowed. His job is walkkg

This might be the funniest story from a casino I've heard. Guy nearly suffocates himself with an n95 50 hours a week then catches it anyway and blames it on lowering the mask to sip a drink. Fucking hilarious. Do you think you'll stop wearing the mask now or will you be doubling down and ceasing to sip on a drink for 50 hours a week? Surely, you realize that natual immunity is a thing and that you've nothing to worry about now??

NaturalBornHustler: Pure comedy. Yeah it was that lowering of the mask for a few seconds that did it!

Comment was supposed to read walking into hospitals. On phone.

I was just curious if this was a uniquely different strain than the previous Omicron as Druff said he didn’t know anyone who had previous strains that got it. I knew a number. Omi 2.0 or whatever.

I have no idea how I’ve managed to dodge it. There was a time with the omicron about four months ago where the girl I was seeing and all her kids got it and I didn’t even leave. She had a cold and I taught her boys to play gin rummy and played about 40 hours worth over three days while she slept. I knew it was mild and figured I’d just get it out of the way and wouldn’t go around anyway if I left. They just sat there and sneezed and wiped their nose on their shirt since their mom was asleep and I can’t imagine how I avoided it.

This was before my fourth shot. I have never had any side effect whatsoever. It’s possible I got the virus then and didn’t even notice it if this variant is the same as the one months ago.

I guess I got the answer to my own question before Druff even woke up. Buddy said daughter and son just tested positive and his daughter just had it in January. They’ll all be fine. His wife has asthma and is early 50s. She’s still negative. Would be a much scarier proposition with previous incarnations of the virus than this one. A one outer even then, but I’ve been one outed a lot of times. Never hit by lightening, we are into hit by lightening territory now for anyone under seniors.

I recently contracted (tested Positive) for covid about two weeks ago as far as i can tell either my son who had it 3 weeks prior or my buddy who i hung out with two days before... I could tell somethings up when my taste for thing went wonky then i felt lethargic and pretty good head ache. I haven't taken Tylenol or any kind of pain pill for at least 5 yrs, the first night with this i took 2x Tylenol 3 they knocked me out 12hours when i woke up it was obvious I had something shitty in me my joints ached and pretty good headache no coffing or chest congestion just really sore and in bed no food for 3 days it really sucked i only had to take two T3s per day to keep the pain away. my focus was way off like vertigo and hard to focus on most anything including movies, tv shows, conversations. Today is the 3rd day i have been able to work full day without getting annoyed or tired my brain fog lifted last night i guess. and finally tested negative yesterday thankfully as my sons graduation commencement was yesterday evening so i was able to attend. he played his tenor saxophone for the guests i am guessing 1000 people he got a pretty good standing ovation i hope he continues to play since he is done school, he has played for 6 years and $4500 instrument, we will see he is quite gifted with this thing.
Anyway I finally feel much better almost 10 days feeling shitty. this virus is very different feeling i think from other flues and colds, pneumonia i have had all three but it could be because all the hype and danger surrounding the virus could have played into the little bit scared i was. as i was more or less immobilized and could only stay in bed and sleep after some T3s with out them would have been a disaster for sure. I didn't take anything else except water and some zink pills. I am assuming i should be immune now hope so
i am double vaccination pyser for at least a year now. i have no plans to get any more vaccines for this. glad its mostly over.
this is not something i would purposely get as you never know if you will turn into one of those bubble heads and die shortly after ugg. my friend died about a year ago from covid he was 74 no vaccination and went with his wife to florida and upon returning they both got ill she got better and he wound up in a hospital and dead a week later. RIP brother.

Mask never bothered my breathing and I don't understand why some people are so melodramatic in regards to other people wearing masks.

And as an AP, masks are a huge benefit for several reasons. I plan to wear it as long as I can without it starting to look weird.

I started feeling under the weather Friday evening playing the Omaha 8 event. Stayed in my room yesterday as a precaution. Today I have a stuffy nose and sore throat. Going to isolate again today. Hopefully it’s not COVID and I will be better before the limit hold’em event tomorrow.
