when you can speak thru your guitar, fuck all that vocal bullshit. Believe that.
The greatest Hendrix cover ever, and the only to exceed the original.

It’s sacrilege but I’m gonna side with Crowe. Fuck the vocal bullshit.
Just occurred to me Crowes’ audio setup must be interesting given his background. There is half a chance he’s running tubes.
It's a standing on the shoulders of giants situation, IMO. Hendrix could do it all, composition, experimental sounds, all manner of styles. SRV, on the other hand, didn't have nearly as wide a scope of talents or even musical ambition, but on his best days, was the best electric blues guitarist out there. There's almost zero chance Stevie could have even written a song such as Little Wing. He wasn't reinventing the wheel by any stretch, like Hendrix was doing, but his version of Little Wing is everything I love about rock guitar. It's restrained and wild at different times, there's very little production other than a bunch of microphones in front of the amps and over the drums, the band is spare and tight, you can hear the amp buzz, each section builds on the next, and the solos are pure fire.
I'd never say that SRV is better than Hendrix, but just like Hendrix did a better All Along the Watchtower than Dylan, I think SRV did a better Little Wing than Hendrix.
