I recognize a lot of the scenes in Yellowstone. About half of it gets filmed down at Darby, Montana in the Bitterroot Valley. Some scenes are in Missoula. Some are in Bozeman.
The fictitious Duttons are named after the small town of Dutton, Montana. They supposedly have the largest ranch in the United States in the Paradise Valley just north of Yellowstone Park. In reality the valley isn't large enough to have a ranch that size. But it is quite a scenic drive with the Absaroka Mountains on the east side of the valley.
Notable people like Peter Fonda and Margot Kidder lived in the Paradise Valley. The Yellowstone River runs though it.
