Honestly, I had no idea you were actually paying this kind of money every month. I obv knew you were "maintaining" the room, but I did not know and never thought about as to the monetary extent of what you had to pay.


Million dollar question - why were you paying for all of this and not Druff, especially after all of these years? That just doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

You've apparently done more than well on your part in attracting listeners/players by running the poker room for the website, plus I've seen that you've donated many times to the freeroll.

Anyway, In any case, I truly appreciate your service.

The killer is that it's windows only. If it were linux it would be a tenner a month.

Given the room is only used for the freeroll, it would be failry easy to write a script to pause the AWS service and resume it before the next freeroll, and only pay a fraction of the monthly cost. But I could never be arsed to do it.

no but for real I hosted the cheap 99 dollar version of this on my home network for a home game for like 6 years we just traded money back and forth the next time we all saw each other.

for a freeroll I think anyone could host this as long as they're running windows

I do want to thank Belly for his generosity all this time.

If it ran on Linux, we could run it for Zero point Zero per month, because the PFA server runs on Linux. Unfortunately, it's Windows only.

I might actually put some effort into looking into how to run this cheaper, since $40/month just for something that runs once a week for a few hours is kinda a waste.

Pretty sure you can run this from a $20 a month or so Windows VPS.

Will it run on Windows 2016?

Virmach is a VPS company with a good rep - they have a $20 a month box with 4 gb or RAM. I think the older version of Pokermavens would run on this but not sure about the new version.
