Lincoln Project fraudster Steve Schmidt completely melting down on Twitter this morning

The Lincoln Project was a scam. Its purpose was not to defeat Donald Trump, though that was presented as the goal, and indeed Trump was the bogeyman used to make it happen.

Instead, the "project" existed simply to line the founders' pockets. The plan was to fool gullible liberals into donating to an "enemy of the enemy is my friend" effort, and it succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. Three of the founders, Steve Schmidt, John Weaver, and Rick Wilson, were former Republican operatives whose careers had fallen apart by the mid-2010s. The fourth founder, George Conway, was simply bitter that he was considered for Solicitor General by Trump at the beginning of his term, only to have the opportunity fall through the cracks. All but Conway were hurting for money in late 2019 when they started Lincoln Project.

The Lincoln Project brought in about $87 million in donations, almost all of it by Democrats. It postured as an organization of NeverTrump Republicans, but their frequent anti-Trump ads were full of left-wing talking points, and never once espoused any right-leaning ideology. This was on purpose, as the group knew where the donations would be coming from, and it wasn't the right. The whole point was to fool liberals with TDS to open their pocketbooks to work for the "common cause" of defeating Trump.

While The Lincoln Project did run a lot of ads, it was estimated by watchdog groups to have spent about $50 million of the $87 million on "subcontractors with ties to the founders", meaning this was basically a legalized embezzlement scheme.

The Lincoln Project basically fell apart in January 2021, after it came out that John Weaver was a closeted gay pedophile sexual harasser, and that all other founders were notified of this in June 2020 but just covered it up.

Prior to this, The Lincoln Project was able to mostly dodge the bad press of being a grift, because they were the darlings of the left. I'll give credit to a few leftists like Stephen Colbert who had the balls to call them out for being phonies.

Anyway, the whole "project" melted down at that point, but not before the founders had enriched themselves.

However, it seems that the fall of the Lincoln Project took its emotional toll on Steve Schmidt, who has shown some signs of instability since the beginning of 2021. This morning, he completely freaked out and started dumping his thoughts on Twitter, including weird ranting about his days on the McCain campaign. Oddly he also rewrites history about Weaver, and frames him as a persecuted "older generation" closeted gay man who was simply sexting with consenting adults, rather than the truth that he was harassing both teenagers and young men.

I'll post them in the next messages.

There's actually way too much to post.

The guy is just going off and ripping on everyone. He's been at it for several hours, and is still going as I type this.

Here's a thread about Meghan McCain, whom he clearly hates. Keep in mind that the McCain campaign was doomed. The 2008 bank/housing crash, combined with Obama as the strong opposition candidate, was going to torch any Republican in that election.

However, McCain was also a crappy candidate. He won the primary by default. Expected favorite Rudy Giuliani was surprisingly weak (and honestly this seemed to be the beginning of his cognitive decline), Fred Thompson never really got going, and Mitt Romney wasn't quite ready yet. After everyone fell off, McCain was the only one left standing. Keep in mind that McCain got clobbered in the 2000 primary by the very flawed George W. Bush, so that shows you how poor of a candidate he was.

Anyway, much like managers of crappy sports teams will sometimes have their careers ruined despite the failures being beyond their control, so was the case with Schmidt. After McCain got clobbered by Obama, Schmidt's career was badly damaged, especially because Schmidt was instrumental in the pick of Sarah Palin as McCain's running mate. Schmidt was only 38 years old when McCain lost, and wasn't ready for his career to be over. He struggled badly for the next 11 years, until he joined Lincoln.

I don't even blame him (or McCain) for the Palin choice. By the time that happened, it was clear the campaign was fucked, and they needed a Hail Mary in order to possibly win. You couldn't go with a conventional VP at that point. For example, a Mike Pence type would have done nothing to move the needle. They needed someone unusual who would possibly light a fire under the base, and they got that with Palin. Of course, she was an idiot and didn't work out, but I don't blame them for trying at their time of desperation.

Apparently he is still holding in a lot of the rage from those days.

Here's his bizarre defense of John Weaver. He frames it as Weaver simply being a closeted gay man from Texas, who grew up during a time it wasn't acceptable to be openly gay, and therefore took those lessons into adulthood.

No, Steve. The issue wasn't John's homosexuality. By January 2021, nobody was particularly interested in a public figure being a closeted gay man. It was Weaver's sexual harassment of teens and young men, reported to you in June 2020 and covered up, which got everyone outraged.

The New York Times published an article where 21 young gay men exposed Weaver for exchanging sex for professional support, and a 14-year-old boy was apparently groomed by Weaver, where Weaver established a "friendship" with him, and then started sending him sexual texts just after he turned 18.

LOL at the rewrite of history below:

He's actually posting scenes from a TV movie version of himself to prove that he wasn't fooled by Palin.

    Guy is unhinged.

"Game Change" was a 2012 TV movie which was basically informed by Schmidt. As you can see above, the movie version of him (played by Woody Harrelson, of all people) is laughably patriotic and totally unrealistic. Basically Schmidt came forth with his "story", in order to save his career. First a book was written, and a few years later they made a bad HBO movie about it.

Now Schmidt is all, "OMG LOOK HOW ACCURATE, SEE EVEN THE MOVIE PEOPLE KNEW I HATED PALIN"

Schmidt is also butthurt that he wasn't invited to the John McCain funeral in 2018.

See, McCain was furious with Schmidt for throwing him under the bus involving the "Game Change" thing. Schmidt wanted to escape the disasterous campaign (and Palin fiasco) with his career still viable, and McCain felt that Schmidt was willing to hurt anyone -- including him -- to still be viable as a campaign manager.

McCain made these feelings clear to his family, including his daughter Meghan.

Palin was not invited to the funeral, nor was Schmidt, Weaver, or senior adviser Nicole Wallace. This was reported on Politico at the time, and then tweeted out by Meghan McCain.

It's all the rage these days to say "Republicans are in the pocket of Russia", but Schmidt claims he was fighting the Russian invasion of the party since 2008. He also seems to believe that he single-handedly saved the McCain campaign in July 2008. He seems to be implying that McCain's association with a Russian operative was about to force him to drop out (despite already being the presumptive nominee from the primary elections), but that Schmidt ended that crisis.

    Right.

There's also a LOL story near the end of the thread below, where Schmidt says that his 2011 therapist agreed that she should be paying him for his story, and that it was one of the most riveting things she ever heard. Yeah, that totally happened.

Great Now Dan Druff can attack the Heritage Foundation and the Cato Institute. Republican think tanks and their 100% phony experts. They know NOTHING about climate change. They know NOTHING about whatever shit they get paid to lobby against. Time to shut these motherfuckers down.

Heritage Foundation and Cato Institute are different. They are very clear about what they are and what their ideology really is.

The Lincoln Project was unique in that it pretended to be a Republican organization which was against Donald Trump. Instead, it was a group of bitter/broke political operatives who knew they could enrich themselves by posturing as ethical Republicans who hated Trump to the point where they were willing to support Biden.

They planned to continue this successful grift long after the 2020 election, which is why they moved on to bashing Loeffler and Perdue in the Georgia Senate runoffs. The gravy train got derailed in early 2021 due to the news about pedophile Weaver, and their apparent knowledge of the situation long before it was made public.

Had Weaver not been such a gay dirty old man, they'd still be pressing full speed ahead today.

Here's a piece rarely talked about in the Lincoln Project debacle.

John Weaver is married to a woman named Angela Hession, with whom he has two kids. In February 2021, Weaver admitted he was gay, but claimed he also loved his wife and kids very much. While it's likely he does love his kids, I found the statement about his wife to be odd. Being gay means that you lack the ability to have either sexual or romantic attraction to the opposite sex. This is why gay people in sham hetero marriages tend to be so miserable. They're missing both the sexual and emotional attraction in their relationship. Weaver might care about his wife in a partnership or friendship sort of way, but I don't believer he was ever in love with her.

However, the question has come up whether his wife knew. It's very possible that she did, and that in fact the entire marriage was one of convenience for two gay people. Here's a picture of Angela Hession:

Does this chick look straight? She very much has a lesbian appearance in every photo I've seen of her. In November 2020, she got a sweet position at Twitch, as "Global VP of Trust and Safety". Her job? She oversees Twitch's effort to keep bullying and sexual harassment off the platform. Ironic, huh? She still holds the job to this day.

Also of note? Neither Hession nor Weaver has filed for divorce. It's been 15 months since the Weaver sexting scandal, and Hession doesn't seem the slightest bit bothered that he was sexting with teenage boys, despite her high-profile position at Twitch where she's tasked to prevent exactly that.

Why would Hession bother with a sham marriage in this day and age? It's possible that in 2007 she still perceived being a lesbian as a career handicap, so she married Weaver, whom she met via Rudy Giuliani. Perhaps they were friends and both knew each other were gay, and decided to enter this BS marriage, with the agreement that both would do what they wanted on the DL. That might explain why Hession just quietly stayed with Weaver, rather than divorcing him for his pedo behavior, which any other self-respecting woman would do.

    LOL POLITICS

    LOL SILICON VALLEY

Well, lift your head up high and take a walk in the sun cause the populists have over run the conservatives in the Republican Party and it all doesn’t matter anymore.

You’ve always had a fixation with the Lincoln Project.

The notion that politics isn’t first level.
That parasites grift and profit from the business of democracy.
Someone ran some really engaging and effective political ads against the republicans and profited handsomely.

    I kinda get it.

I have Americans stalking Supreme Court Justices for the first time in history and this will scarcely raise an eyebrow. We could go on and on about the threat of world war and the coming decade economically.

It’s politics and it’s dirty. Your boy Parscale owns several million dollar homes in Florida from campaign financing grift.

I skimmed the tweets and I didn’t connect with your outrage. Honestly it just resurfaced my disgust over McCain and the chuckles about Palin once being an All Star

I don't think it is the Lincoln Project specifically, it is all these RINO's who are from the Dem elite ruling class cabal masquerading as "conservatives".

They have been exposed the last few years after successfully hiding who they really are for so long.

My fixation was that it was entirely based upon a lie.

Parscale was dirty, but ultimately he was still a Trump campaign manager, and didn't represent himself as otherwise.

The Lincoln Project was the unusual PAC which fully lied and misled donors about what they were, and why they were doing it. These were not Republicans who hated Trump and had to act. These were not even hired guns of others who hated Trump. These were grifters who feigned hating Trump in order to fool gullible libs into donating, and it worked amazingly well.

Now, I realize that grifters are gonna grift, but in this case, the libs with TDS refused to admit what was going on, even when it was super obvious. Any criticism was met with being called a "brainwashed MAGAt who doesn't understand that there can be Republicans who hate Trump".

    Common sense was abandoned.

If the libs said, "Yeah, this is 100% a grift, but at least some of the money is going toward legit bashing Trump, so we're cool with it." Instead, anyone who questioned this grift was accused of being a conspiracy theorist of an alt-right nutcase.

In the continuum of political financial shenanigans I appreciate the uniqueness of the Lincoln Project. Perhaps you’re to thank for making the distinction clear to me.

Donors were responding to the messaging and gave no fucks about the background story. People would have donated if the ads were sponsored by The Hitler Charitable Trust. These “ads” were some of the best written and produced political ads and folks responded to them. You cannot dispassionately deny the quality and humor. The message resonated with viewers. A home run.

I am the last guy on earth you would expect to consume such material. I just had to tip my cap. Yeah, I looked forward to watching them when posted on PFA. Honestly they would not have crossed my screen otherwise. Not the targeted FaceBook fool as you know.

Political messaging is filthy, untruthful and profit driven. Not an optimistic look for democracy. Your crusade is useful in that regard.
