Despite a 94 degree high in Las Vegas, snow falls on Mt. Charleston

    Really weird.

Mt. Charleston's base is at 8,500 feet above sea level. A small ski resort is located there. It's about 45 minutes away from Vegas. Las Vegas itself is at 2,000 feet.

Mt. Charleston is typically 30 degrees cooler than Las Vegas in the summer months.

Despite a 94-degree Las Vegas high, this happened yesterday:

You'd be surprised by how weird weather can be from one place to another Druff. Grandfather Mtn near Boone NC has received snow sometime during recorded history every month but July. I lived in the area for awhile and believe me when its snowing in May its just plain fucked up. (the general area sits between 3500-4000ft but Grandfather Mtns peak is around 6000-6500 as I recall with a swinging foot bridge right at 5280ft.) Then again consider Phoenix AZ and its well known Camelback Mtn its in the 70s-80s in the winter but Camelback is snowcapped for 4 months minimum a year

And now, today, Vegas gets pounded by rain and floods.

http://www.palladiumboots.com/video/...-trailer#part2 <-- This was referenced today on Vegas Tripping, but it's really shocking to see the tunnels below the strip and how rain of any kind can basically cause a foot and a half of drainage water runoff below the casinos. This guy also scales the shell of the abandoned Fountainbleau tower on video, the tallest structure in Vegas, avoiding motion sensors and cameras. Some very cool videos.

Also, one of the businesses in that flood picture was going to sponsor my planned but now-defunct terrestrial radio show.

The show was supposed to air from June to October, 2012. We were 2 days away from signing the contract to make it happen.

A California station located on the drive from LA to Vegas was going to pick up my show (which I was going to host with a friend from Vegas who doesn't play poker), but the show didn't pan out because of issues between my friend and the station owner. (It was mostly the station owner's fault, to be honest.)

Not related to these weird weather issues but it reminded me of it.
