Are all of these fees normal or is Budget trying to fuck me over? I'm planning a Vegas trip and everyone I've seen post trip advice says that it's good to rent a car rather than be at the mercy of the buses and taxi driver.

All normal charges.
BTW Budget is one of if not the most expensive outfits to rent from.

Here's a link that's helpful: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/car-r...-partners-392/
It will be tough to find a discount code that works. Most require a saturday night keep to be eligible.

Second, BE CAREFUL WITH BUDGET.
Many of them are franchised, so the individual owners cut corners and rent out unsafe cars.
Here are some things that can happen at franchised rental car outfits:
- Cars are purchased cheaply at an auction, often with a troubled history of accidents and/or mechanical failure
- Cars are poorly maintained, with the very minimum done to keep them roadworthy
- Tires are worn down, often have damage or no tread. Owner does not replace them until they actually blow out or are completely unusable
- Cars have high mileage, often over 40,000
If a franchised car rental place fucks you over, you have NO RECOURSE. You can get your money back, but that's it. Often you are left in the lurch, with the choice between taking a dangerous car or having no car when you really need one.
Corporate rental cars have low mileage (usually under 15,000, often under 10,000), are well maintained, and have plenty of tread on the tires. This is because corporate rental locations are not trying to cut every corner to save a buck in the short term.
Budget is notorious for a lot of franchising.
I would suggest looking for another company, and making sure that whatever you choose is corporate and not franchised.
have had good success with www.carrentals.com
they have very low rates
I have also used Budget twice with no issues.
Make sure you walk around the car and note any exterior damage and then write it down on the form before leaving the lot.

Take a taxi if staying on the Strip. Tell the driver to not take the tunnel! Fare each way with tip is $25. Money saved from rental car is $102.67. Walking the Strip is easy and good exercise.

List of great stuff to do off the strip please.
The last thing I want to do when I'm in Vegas is drive a car.
Well this for one:

Also, so much easier to go downtown which I like to do. It also opens you up to a multitude of food options. Going to Vegas and never leaving the strip is always a head scratcher for me. Again, to each his own.
