Don’t forget the math. A normal pga tour event has 130-140 players tee off in Round 1. Then top 65 and ties make the cut. For argument sake we’ll say it’s exactly 50% of the field. However the Masters is different. It’s a smaller field and has a set cut at 50 and ties. Last year 88 entered and 54 made the cut. That’s 61.3%. But we can dive even further. 20 players are playing at Augusta for the first time including 6 amateurs. Remove them from the math and it gets a lot easier to see a path to making the cut for Tiger. Just don’t shit the bed and best the first timers and you make the weekend.
It’s a slam dunk Tiger makes the cut if he gets in 36 holes moderately healthy.
