Even lifelong leftists are getting fed up with the San Francisco government's attitude regarding crime and homelessness.
Democrats have absolutely destroyed that city.
I have wanted for awhile to take Ben there and show him all of the interesting and historical features of the place, but it's just not safe anymore.
I was last there in 2009. It was just starting to get bad. You could still walk around town and not get mugged. Alcatraz was cool and Sausalito (across the bay) was nice. Also took a wine tour in Napa. We're thinking about going back to Napa directly and skipping San Fagcisco for a race that goes from Napa to Sonoma. But, no fucking way I am going back to San Fagcisco proper. To dangerous, and don't want to support the local govt. with my Dinero. This is what happens when Liberal Gringos run a city into the ground.

No idea how anyone could voluntarily stay in such an area if they have the means to move. Even if I were poor like ok25 I would gather my minimal possessions and move to the sticks.
Still work in Portland but purchased a home in nearby Beaverton last year.
Lengthens my commute on in-person days but simply not seeing tents/trash everywhere around where I live and not having to be hypervigilant when at playgrounds etc has really improved quality of life.
Have no respect for a lot of the cucks I know or work with who minimize it as 'not that bad /'it's the same everywhere' or some other line of bullshit.
Seeing people openly shoot up, shitting openly etc are unique things due to permissiveness. I don't give a shit about the homeless anymore but it really leads to inhumane conditions for people who can't help themselves.

I don't think I've touted a liberal position here for a long time. Living in Oregon has shifted much of my thinking.

I visited San Francisco some 35 years ago and was shocked then by the disparity in wealth visible.
Somehow the “rich” always find a way to blame the poor for many of society’s failures
Also, bad decisions are being overlooked. Whole Foods decides to open their largest store in the region, downtown, during a pandemic?
Scapegoat crime all you want this was a bad decision.

Nobody blames the poor? Yes they do, almost everywhere, almost always.
Welfare recipients, the homeless, addicts, criminals, etc. etc. are all easy targets for the finger pointing rich.
Rich meaning anything other than poor. All of those mentioned have one thing in common, they are poor.
This is a tough debate on one hand poor folks should be helped as best as posable. lots or most of them have substance abuse problems likely brought on by there situation, it is a terrible problem and not a lot of solutions that will satisfy everyone I've herd that housing is 'not good enough' according to advocates. how these people got into there situation reaches far into the mental health problem and lack of help for these people other than strong scripts that are intern sold/traded to meth and fentenal dealers. and a vicious circle begins.
Rich folks want there fucking cake god dammit taxes are paid and still can't get a moment of peace and quiet without being vilified for being successful and hard working citizen.
so this eventually leads to our trusted and elected governments to make the crucial decisions in how to deal with these unfortunate losers of society and of course getting them to make decisions without spending millions on investigating on procedure and 10k shitters nothing will get done other than a bandaid on a gaping wound.
