More than theater.
Why would Disney push this stuff? I going to coin a phrase, is this Corporate Marxism?
This past week has been bizarre, this is the second time this week a major corporation has put their New World Order agenda ahead of corporate profit.
I'm talking about Musk/Twitter, and it was shocking to see the supposed world's richest man get smacked down by corporate power.
We'll see if this Disney stuff holds up, they usually find a loophole.
BUMP
Well well well....
Remember when I said that I remarked to my late '90s girlfriend that Anaheim was Disney's bitch?
Looks like I was right. The FBI is investigating a "cabal" which has been controlling Anaheim's city council on Disney's behalf:

This Disney thing is getting weird, Disney has clearly put their social engineering/political agenda ahead of profit.
"Lightyear' banned in 14 markets after same-sex kiss controversy"
In other words 14 Muslim countries have banned Disney's flagship cartoon over a same sex kiss.
Which begs the question, serious question?
Why the fuck does Disney and the establishment absolutely insist on jamming this LGTBQ sex crap onto young children?
I mean insist, this is a hill they're ready to die on.
If it's a good thing to teach this to kids then prove it, how come this step is being skipped.
Hungary and Poland have lost billion in funding because they banned the teaching of gay stuff to minors.
Is there a nefarious hidden agenda?
The problem is that this shit is all gratuitous. "Lightyear" isn't a gay story. It's a kid's story where they just threw in token gay characters and had them kiss. That's where the indoctrination part comes in. It's Disney saying, "Yeah, we're gonna expose your kids to this now, regardless of what you have to say about it. Good luck keeping your kids away from this mainstream movie!"
I am not sure what you mean by token character. I only saw the trailer, but it is pretty obvious the black lesbian chick is a very main character. I really dont know off the top of my head, but I am guessing like most male dominated fields, good chance a high % of female pilots/astronauts are lesbians. I mean, I get Disney made this character intentionally to virtue signal their progressive bona fides, and I doubt the kiss scene has any bearing on the main plot and was just thrown in for the same reason. But as far as accurately representing pilots/astronauts demographically, making the character a lesbian probably isn't going off the deep end.
From a broader perspective it is pretty interesting how the left wing establishment continues to give the Muslim world a free pass for their "bigoted" views, ostensibly because of their placement as a victimized class atop the victimization hierarchy pyramid.
We give countries like Hungary and Poland (and states like Florida) a hard time when they support more conservative views related to homosexuality, but give the Muslim world a mostly free pass for much more serious anti-homosexual transgressions and viewpoints.
No. The whole episode was a political stunt that cashed out big for him, and could vault him to the Presidency. DeSantis, and the state govt of Florida, never had any capability (or I am guessing intention) to revoke Disney's privileges in the area and take over themselves. This was just a stunt to elevate his personal brand, and couldn't have worked better.
This DeSantis interview was just 3 days ago and he doesn't look like he's backing down from anything. Starting at the 2:30 mark he basically tells Iger off in the interview:
POKER FAG ALERT! FOR BLOW JOB SEE SLOPPY JOE THE TRANNIE HO.
I should clarify that the state of Florida couldn't "take over" Disney's land, as that is privately owned.
However, I believe they could strip their autonomous status, to where they would be under county jurisdiction, which would require them to adhere to all county laws, be served by county law enforcement, and pay county taxes.
I didn't mean they legally couldn't do it in theory. I meant it would cost the state so much money it isn't really was never an economically rationale option, and DeSantis has to have known this all along. My understanding is it would hurt the state of Florida financially as much as, if not more than Disney. And that really isn't DeSantis's style.
So DeSantis would have absolutely no problem taking the W for his personal brand, and then quietly make peace with Disney and not following through. But painting this as an "L" for him as Mumbles was doing is a very uninformed, partisan take IMO.
I agree it would probably be a big hassle to do, and of course Disney would put their best lawyers on the case to challenge it, and it could drag out forever.
I can't see how it would hurt Florida financially. It's not like Disney is just going to abandon their theme parks and leave.
I agree it was probably more a stunt/threat than anything else. Desantis was legitimately mad at them, though, and for good reason. I usually am not in favor of government officials taking punitive action against organizations/people which oppose them politically, but in this case I actually did support it, even if it's just an empty threat.
Disney has a very special, beneficial arrangement with the Florida state government, and they've had it for 55 years. They should appreciate that arrangement and not take (unfair) potshots at administrations they don't like. Basically they should see it that the state government has stayed out of their way for 55 years, and in return, they should stay out of the state government's way.
What Disney did was akin to you letting a friend stay rent-free in a second home you own, and many years into it, he shows up on social media and falsely accuses you of being a homophonic asshole. Your first inclination would be to start charging him rent, and you'd be right to do it.
I don't think the issue is "Disney" per se. I think the main problem is that left wing liberal colleges have turned the highly educated white collar working class into staunch left wing activists, who in turn are putting tremendous pressure on the companies they work for. It seems this is what happened here, where Chupak originally didn't want to get involved at all, but activist employees and the MSM put pressure on him and he crumbled.
And this isn't just a Disney thing. The has been happening throughout industries that rely on highly educated professionals. And corporate management mostly takes the path of least resistance and does everything to appease their employee activists. Although now that the economy has slowed and things are getting tight, we are seeing companies stand up to their employees when they see pushing left wing activism as potentially hurting their bottom line.
But we should be cognizant of where the pressure is largely coming from, employee activists. And why, because they they have been indoctrinated in elite left wing colleges.
I lived in Orlando and area 10+ years feel I understand it well now Orlando gets special privilege from the State of Florida (its for a reason Tourism $$)
O r L a N d O
had a good UFC (Fight Night) Event was there yesterday, and Orlando is good for that. Events and hotels, food people can pass through Orlando have fun and be gone, its all there by design. Now Personally im happy I was able to move out of the Central Part of the State its hot, and HOTTER and Lakes, Lligators all that. Not so much Ocean and beachs which many relate Florida too here, and Retirement want so Orlando, wont be for everyone. And me dont have kids, so not one to need Theme Parks but they are nice, well kept, foods good etc etc so I have gone
Walt Disney World generates tons of this States Revenues
even people wanting to come here at all, families with Children. And Disney does a top notch job of that all they do offer but expensively done, a first Class product generally everywhere with what they do. The State of Florida knows how vital Disney is to this States Economy. The area you are probably all unaware about is Reddy Creek That area is everything in Orlando (Zoning and Tax benefit wise bc its Disney..). The Reedy Creek special District (so zoning..) is literally because it is on the actual Walt Disney World Property and so the State of Florida knows specifically, Reedy Creek and that privilege is, Disney. Whatever this State gives that District, Reedy Creek because it is Disney World its 1005 known and by our State Governors to be benefitting Walt Disney World, and then bring tourism dollars so win/win for this State, but now. People are becoming more aware of this all, and while this is LOL poker forum no one here probably would understand Reedy Creek and how its very known, and specific literally too all that is Disney in Orlando. So too then all our Governors known, Reedy Creek is giving Disney Privilege or that specific little area there, its interesting here, in Florida and matters big time. Since Disney does generate tons of Revenue for this State and via Walt Disney historically.
That may be changing now myself im a big proponent of opening up Gaming here in this State, I HATE Monopolies in Gaming sorry and by design Florida here is an actual Monopoly in Gaming. Now keep in mind im born and Raised New Jersey which they like Competition in New Jersey unlike Florida here, in Gambling. That i do think New Jersey has right and Florida has all wrong in Gaming, Monopoly vs. free Market and imo Monopolies in Gaming are awful, never benefit the Consumer, or us, me..
(dont use that word often ever but I HATE Monopolies in gaming...)
