    “It’s on Your Card”

I have to believe this is some kind of vague catchphrase that people in the service industry use to answer you but not commit to anything on their part. What does this mean exactly, well gather round while I tell you a tale inspired by Druffy Time Theatre!

I frequent a Casino on the East Coast and play in the high limit on the weekends to avoid the large crowds and drunks that stumble on to table games. Prior to this most recent visit I have ALWAYS received a dinner comp of some amount and Always thanked them! I’ve seen other people whine and complain about ONLY getting $100 and realize you have to be grateful for anything they give because they have a set limit and can’t exceed that.

So I asked for enough to get dinner at the steakhouse and was told after 30 minutes of additional play “You have $30”. I said “ Can I have the comp voucher to take with me?” To which they replied, “It’s on your card!”

Which I interpreted as , the comp is on my player’s card. Again, nothing new as they’ve almost always put the comp on there as discretionary credit. However on one occasion they didn’t put it on by the time I finished eating and it took an additional 20 minutes to resolve the matter. This time, they didn’t put it on at all and when I went to pay the cashier said “There’s no comp on here, do you wanna use your reward points?” At this casino, you can exchange reward points for free play and they accumulate at an abysmal rate. So I said “No I’ll call the host!”

After no answer, I walked back over to the High Limit room and said “Can you please add the comp so I can pay for my dinner?” He said “It’s on your card!” … to which I retorted “Actually it isn’t , that’s why I’m here!”

“He goes yea it is, just check your rewards balance!!” I just stared and shook my head proclaiming “Yea great, wish you woulda told me that instead of pretending like it was a Comp!” I promptly went back to the Steakhouse, paid using the rewards points, effectively wiping them out and haven’t returned since! It’s not the amount or even the money, it’s a simple matter of them hiding the Fact they didn’t want to comp me dinner and acted like it was no big deal that I use my earned rewards. Then they use vague language to cover themselves rather than admitting they did nothing to help me.

I’m sure Druff would agree this is a shady practice and I did report this to a supervisor who responded with the usual tripe of “sorry for the inconvenience, we are under staffed and our comp allowance is restricted”. But seriously they should’ve offered a free dinner to compensate. Thoughts on whether I should press the matter or is it not worth it??

You're correct, and this actually happens all the time at Caesars properties.

I'm not sure if this was a Caesars property or not, because you didn't specify.

However, unfortunately your hands are mostly tied here, unless you are giving a fair amount of action to where they'd want to keep you as a customer. You might want to try speaking to this supervisor's boss (such as the boss of all the hosts), and explain how misleading this whole thing was, especially given that you've always received a $100 dinner comp for similar play in the past.

On my other forum (vegascasinotalk.com), someone complained several years ago about a similar matter. They had played a whole lot during their trip, and asked the host for a comp. The host said to charge it to the room, so they did. At the end of the trip, the host said, "Just want to let you know, I took care of your $400 worth of food charges." They thanked the host, and thought nothing was out of the ordinary.

However, they logged into their Total Rewards account, and found $400 in RCs (rewards credits) missing! The host "took care" of it by using their own banked comps -- something which they could have done themselves at any time without a host's assistance!

For this reason, it's important never to take a host's word for anything when something seems out of the ordinary. Always get full clarification. Always make sure they understand you're asking for an actual comp, and not just using your points.

BedWetterBettor: Yea I did ask specifically for a comp and asked for it printed so I could just sign it and hand it over. They never had a problem before with that, but this host was just one of those “not my problem” types & thought Saying “it’s on yo card” was enuf

Im confused here. Did he add any reward points to your balance or no?

BedWetterBettor: No, the balance was already at $30 before I played. He figured he didn’t have to use his comp allowance because there was money on the card. Therefore, when I asked for a dinner comp, he gave the ambiguous response “it’s on your card!”
