The problem isn't that we are supporting Ukraine. The problem is that we have seemingly initiated a strategy to bleed Russia, with little actual regard for the people of Ukraine. What Ukraining is benefiting form this status quo?
That being said, we need to keep in mind the war was "supposed" to only last a couple days. Russia was supposed to overwhelm Ukraine with minimal casualties to both sides, install a puppet govt, and then the West was going to install sanctions and pump up our military-industrial complex (using US tax dollars) to ostensibly protect the rest of Europe.
Russia (and everyone else) completely overestimating the functional ability of the Russian army is what has brought us to this point, where thousands of people on both sides are dying with no end in sight. My extremely uninformed opinion is that we should be focusing more on diplomacy with Russia and ending hostilities, and less on giving Ukraine just enough aid to keep fighting (and dying). But that is all it is, is an uninformed take.
