    We were Hungary in Russia...Soviet

NATO sends more ships, jets to eastern Europe as tensions with Russia build

Tensions soared Monday between Russia and the West, with NATO outlining a series of potential troop and ship deployments and Ireland warning that upcoming Russian war games off its coast would not be welcome while concerns abound that Moscow is planning to invade Ukraine

8,000 us troops on "heightened alert." We may as well go to war, though.

How long before those hand held rocket launchers getting shipped to Ukraine end up in the LA Middle Schools?

Stinger missiles are made by Raytheon and that stock is poised for a breakout.

Just wanted to give a shout-out to American Union made weapons. Buy US.

I learned this piece of trivia this year.

Why we count down on New Year's Eve (and why it wasn't always the case)
    https://www.npr.org/2021/12/31/10694...ountdown-clock

Before the 1970s, countdowns were generally associated with bad things.

"In the 1950s, there were atomic bomb tests," McCrossen said. "And the countdown to the dropping of the bomb and then to its detonation was televised and people could hear it. And so this was a kind of apocalyptic countdown."

In 1964, a notorious campaign ad for President Lyndon B Johnson depicted a girl counting petals on a flower until an ominous voice takes over the countdown and a bomb explodes.

A voiceover then rings out: "These are the stakes to make a world in which all of God's children can live or to go into the dark."

For some reason, Russians are paranoid about being invaded from the west. Those fears are not unfounded. The idea that “Germany isn’t like that anymore” is laughable to a Russian. They consider Ukraine and White Russia within their sphere of influence and an important buffer to Western aggression. The Ukraine is going to still be a shithole regardless of who rules it. It’s literally the Midwest of Europe, full of backward peasant farmers.

Zero point zero chance we will go to war with Russia, and Putin knows it. It ain’t Saudi Arabia. If we did decide to “defend the Ukraine’s right to be a nation, it would fit perfectly into Putin’s narrative of Western hostility towards Mother Russia. The economic sanctions would be severe though. I’m sure Putin is running the cost/benefit analysis as we speak.

If he does invade it won’t be until after the Winter Olympics. It’s the Super Bowl for Russia. He won’t risk the athletes being expelled, or more importantly, the live feed being cut off to Russia. That would definitely piss of his countrymen.

The bolded sentence is being Red Army flagged. You've heard of the Soviet Union right? Russia would like that back. Don't be surprised if Russia puts it's toe in the water.

Would be ironic if Russian hackers got into the Canadian governments system & seized all their money.
Tradition is a set of solutions for which we have forgotten the problems.

    Canadian bank accounts come frozen.
If they go after South Korea accounts they'll have won.
