the deductive reasoning wizard in me does wonder, who is taking who here

Yes audiences matter to these ones, but end of the day Doug Polk does have some real ability and if he needs some day, he got that real Poker ability too. Although poker is not Rocket Science so maybe wrong but. If I were the youtuber, I would very careful sitting over Sample with DOug Polk now, honestly i wouldnt know a thing about the guy, life leaks but yeah, poker wise he isnt the soft seat ever, clearly.. Now me i do not watch you tube and only hear via poker forums of these names Owen/Trooper and so i wouldnt know, but am aware they rounded the Vegas scene too some.

Austin Texas seems to be a ting these days and there has to be reasons to it, Tesla moving there and, I think i know it but yeah, Doug Polk is never the soft seat in any poker game, obviously

Doug is having a good time fucking around at The Lodge, playing wild, giving people the thrill of being able to beat him. I laugh when idiot 1/2 players on the internet criticize his play in some of these spots. He's not trying to play GTO here.

I assume this is half due to boredom in Austin, and half due to wanting to create more attention to the room, leading to his eventual expansion plans.

Unfortunately for Doug, if the Dallas situation leads to copycat actions by other jurisdictions, those plans will fall very short.

Todd the professional Poker player is being sincere as can be here, and its true..

Strategically this isnt huge volume thin edge, plus software tools online Grinding, or massive feild MTT grinding back in the day but, for the fans kinda. Doug realizes that and actually he's doing these few a solid, nice guy obviously in that, Polker is allowing some bridging of his poker fans and audiences so, makes sense. Poker as a whole benefits when these two worls collide in a way, both do have real audiences.

Doug Polk I dont and well esp not past two years follow closely but i think i remember him most as that online crusher, dating pornstrs or something lol, the stories made them times un and memorable in spots. Now i will tell you and just ouside looking in observer side of it all, Poker has real Variance, and it wont always be nice. The downside of that Variance woul dbe the polar Opposite of where he came up at, and as. Times are different and even tho obviously super talented poker player especially heads up, life variance is real too. How you handle that life variance is what is the measure of a person maybe.

    BUMP

They're really putting some effort into getting this thing going. And look at this cutesy ad:

    https://twitter.com/LodgePokerClub/status/1526324085424201728

Did it turn out to be an overlay? Of course not. The prize pool ended up at 758k, which while close to being an overlay, still wasn't.

The first rule about tournament overlays is that you don't talk about tournament overlays.

Unless you're the owners of the card room, of course.

The ad above was a bit dishonest because usually guaranteed events see the majority of entries in later flights, so you can't say what it's "on pace" for. This is especially true when the guarantee might not be met, as there are many who watch and only enter if it seems like it's going to be an overlay or fairly close.

Also, advertising an overlay of course causes a lot more people to run down there and register. So here they claim they were "giving away $250,000", and in reality they gave away zero point zero.

watching other peoples poker game or gimic on social media twitch also i dont use those im old lol.. for me never really interested me i guess. idk why maybe its because id rather be playing and not watching someone else be doing what i probably which i could be doing so, maybe its just me but thats why i never overly yet or got into social media known people i guess.

    Well... life imitated art.

Remember that "predicted $250,000" overlay which wasn't an overlay?

Well, their Main Event in that same series had a real overlay... and it was more than $250,000:

    https://www.pokernews.com/tours/the-...ips.489105.htm

    $3k Main Event, $2m guarantee
    617 runners -- $1,851,000 total collected

This was a true overlay of $149,000, and a rake-included overlay of $334,100 (meaning the prize pool would have been $1,665,900 if no guarantee and raked normally).

Not devastating to the room, but not good, either.

Some felt the $3k buyin was too high for a "local" event like this. It will be interesting to see what they do regarding guaranteed events going forward.

Doug is one of the chip leaders after day 1, so maybe he will earn it BACK.

This was a smart attempt i think to try and Capitalize on some maybe WSOP pre hype possibly

Texans like Red Meat and Gambling poker specifically i know now lol

anyway i get it pre WSOP maybe and too high a buyin that's only pros paying that high a buyin imo, and in Texas too..

and also kinda lol to a casual Rec in a way to think yeah ok, lets go to Texas play Doug Polk haha anyway
