So since pandemic started been playing in home game on stars. First issue was getting my account reactivated since my RFA token ran out of batteries 7-8 years ago.
I eventually decided to deposit a micro sum of money and play some small games just to see if I still have it in me. Before I left I was 6-8 tabling 5.-1nl and 1-2nl. Plus lots of 20-50 dollar tourneys HU or multi. Now I'm playing the micros against a bunch of guys in south America and Russia.
I admit I was rusty but that's not what this post is about.
I remembered the following from Stars.
-Was considered the premier site to play poker as it wasn;t a casino (Lee Jones had major fucking respect)
-Had best structure for most games and did not focus on turbo crap
-Reward structure was decent. No rakeback but supernova or if you manage supernova elite was very nice.
So I started again and OMG this place is not recognizable.
-Now has both casino and sports betting. They are constantly spamming me with free offers on their casino or sports betting. I rarely get any offers about poker.
-Reward system is gone. They've replaced it with some chest unlocking mechanism which I'm sure if much worse.
-My understanding is rake has increased significantly but haven;t taken time to figure it out in cash games.
-You cannot play more than 4 cash tables at once.
-They completely shut down heads up cash games.
-All in protection introduced which charges 1% juice.
-Dozens of stupid casino type poker games which I'm sure reduce skill advantage against opponents (often involve cycling or soccer).
-I'm sure there are many other changes I haven't had the pleasure to experience yet...
The most ridiculous bit is they claim all these changes were done to stop predatory behaviour. They are a fucking casino. There is nothing more predatory than what they do.
I have to say it's horrible to see cause I had such fond memories as the place and it always had a good reputation.
